PAIGE POWELL'S BEULAH LAND
GUCCI SOHO
THROUGH MAY 17
This installation recreating PAIGE POWELL's original 1984 art installation from BEULAH LAND in the East Village is open to the public through May 17th at GUCCI SOHO (63 Wooster Street.) Longtime Jackie Factory folk and "Legacy" club stars will see their past flash before them, and for everyone else its a great dip into 80's and early 90s nocturnal history. The opening last week celebrated the launch of the book set ‘PAIGE POWELL’ exploring the cultural significance of New York City—from Harlem to the East Village to SoHo—in the 80s and early 90s as seen through the lens of the artist. From her unique perch at INTERVIEW magazine and the Warhol Factory, Paige photographed the everyday activities around her, capturing moments of art, culture and nightlife. For the installation, Jackie Factory DJ JOHNNY DYNELL created a three-hour soundtrack evoking those clubs and especially the Afterhours sound of Another New York entirely. Go!
TUESDAY MAY 7
HEAR THE MUDD

RICHARD BOCH, doorperson of the seminal MUDD CLUB, wrote the definitive book on that storied NYC nightclub. At the latest edition of his SOHO GRAND CLUB ROOM gatherings, JOHNNY DYNELL will join fellow Mudd alumni/DJ Legends JUSTIN STRAUSS and DAVID AZARCH spinning as "DJ 3WAY".

A LEG UP FOR LAUREN

Scene Goddess, House of Domination icon, horsewoman, nurse and so much more - LAUREN PINE is a beloved member of our nightlife families. In late 2017 she was involved in a horrible accident, losing a leg. An inspiration to many for her courage, tonight friends including SHERRY VINE, THE TOILET BOYS, AMANDA LEPORE and UNITARD will raise funds at the BOWERY ELECTRIC for her ongoing recovery.

LETTING LOOSE AND FIGHTING BACK:
LGBTQ NIGHTLIFE BEFORE AND AFTER STONEWALL
NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY

In this 20th anniversary year of JACKIE 60's closing we've been thinking about our place in NYC club history and its many offshoots. Therefore we were thrilled and honored to be included in the STONEWALL 50 exhibit LETTING LOOSE AND FIGHTING BACK, which "highlights the ways in which nightlife has been critical in shaping LGBTQ identity, building community, developing political awareness, and fostering genres of creative expression that have influenced popular culture worldwide." Items from JACKIE 60 and other JACKIE FACTORY offshoots including the DOWNTOWN COSTUME INSTITUTE  will be part of the show, which will be up at one of our favorite haunts, NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY from May 24 - September 22.
