RYA Yachtmaster Practice, <<First Name>>?

This is going to be a short newsletter, simply promoting a cancelled berth on our training weekend; see below.

We had a small but good gathering for the Kick Start Rally a couple of weekends ago. Although not as warm as this Easter weekend, we had some lovely sunshine and good winds. Andy and Tina were able to join us for both lunch in Newtown Creek and then the AGM and dinner in Buckler’s Hard on Beaulieu River.

dhsc.co.uk Programme pageIf you’ve not done so already, please check out the club’s full programme on the website. After discussions at the AGM, we’re looking to remove some events in the existing programme and concentrate on those that already have some interest. Now’s the time to check out the programme and make sure you don’t miss out!

Happy booking!

Yachtmaster Practice, 26-28 April

Due to unforseen circumstances, a member booked onto this year’s training weekend has had to cancel, and is offering her place at a huge 50% discount, so £175 instead of the full £350; that’s superb value! If you’re interested in assessing your readiness for a Yachtmaster exam, this opportunity is perfect for you.

The intention of the weekend is to allow aspiring Yachtmasters to get feedback on their skills and ‘readiness’ for a Yachtmaster exam, identifying potential weak-spots and practicing some of the manoeuvres and procedures that YM’s need to perform with confidence. The attendees will drive what’s accomplished during the weekend, but I’m sure it will involve some night sailing, blind navigation, MOB drills and manoeuvres under sail.

There will be three people on the weekend — plus one more if someone takes the cancelled place — so a great instructor to student ratio. Urban Truant, an RYA Training Centre, are running the whole weekend for us providing both a yacht and qualified RYA Yachtmaster instructor, so I know from personal experience you won’t be disappointed.

Attendees need to be at Swanwick Marina on the River Hamble by 6.30pm this Friday and will be finished by 4pm on the Sunday. Please contact me asap if you would like to take the place or have any questions.

DHSC Posters

Membership Posters

As always, we're keen to attract new members. A great way to help with this is through advertising the club in your place of work or local sports or sailing club.

Feel free to print the posters yourself (available for download from the website) or drop me an email and I'll send some in the post.

That’s it for now. Please check out this year’s programme and email me if you have any questions. As always, when booking please let me know the role you’d like on the boat: skipper, mate or crew. Don’t forget to check the latest news on the DHSC Facebook page too!

Kind regards,
