Dear Listener,

Note to Self, the podcast that first brought Jen Poyant and me together at WNYC, roared back to life this week!

After a year away, our first new episode dives into the latest on kids and screens with Dr. Elizabeth Englander. And since my son just got a phone (he claims he was the last in his class), I found returning to my beloved podcast particularly cathartic.

We must note: future Note to Self episodes will only be available on the new podcasting app Luminary. This is a bit controversial. But we hope you'll listen to the first (free) episode and support us by subscribing. More on why we went the paywall route in the links below.

Meanwhile, as you may or may not know, over the last year Jen and I have been documenting our entrepreneurial ride on our other podcast, ZigZag. We are in LOVE with today's episode: it's about the growing Zebras Unite movement.

Founded by Jenn Brandel and Mara Zapeda, "Zebras" is a backlash against Silicon Valley's so-called "unicorn" companies. These two women's inspiring real talk about making money AND doing good isn't just for entrepreneurs...

All in all, I think our busy week here at Stable Genius Productions epitomizes the new direction of ZigZag: we're examining the current culture of business, figuring out what needs to change, and experimenting with new ways to do it.

Tell us your story about experimenting with change by responding to this newsletter. If you're new here, keep scrolling for my links and recommendations. You can also ping me @manoushz on Twitter anytime with your feedback and suggestions.

It took us a year to get to this point and we are so grateful that you've stuck by us.

Thank you,
Manoush x

GO DEEPER:
How tech's new unicorns have it all--except a path to profit.
More start-ups are telling VC investors to get lost.
The connection between more kids with phones and bullying.
Lots of details about Facebook's stubborn inability to face criticism.
Pregnancy apps could be sharing data with your boss. Not cool.
Fast Company gives Note to Self's reboot a thumb's up but wonders about paying for podcasts.
I talked to Digiday about podcasting and experimenting with new revenue models.

WE RECOMMEND:
You can try Luminary for 3 months for free and decide for yourself if it's worth it.
What you can do to protect your digital privacy--don't give up.
Adam Davidson has a new podcast called The Passion Economy.
We finally built out the Stable Genius Productions website.
