Birdie On!
We have brought home two new llamas and more are in the works. The young male is 5 months old and we named him Arlo. The female is 19 and I named her Luna. Arlo is already doing very well in halter training and basic manners. I have had him in front of people and he did well. He seems to have a willing personality and I am so enjoying training him! Luna is old, and llamas can live to 25ish range, but 19 is getting up there, but she is very healthy. We brought her along so the boy would have a  llama mentor. We want to bring a young female on board to to add to our Llama Love program to mix with the elders.

I feel Birdie everywhere. When the llamas first arrived, it was exciting and comforting. But there were moments of sadness. They are so different than Birdie, and that is okay. The light in the Llama Love Room is so spiritual, it is our church, and sometimes, I see Arlo looking up as the light comes in through the roof cracks. Light, Birdie, it is all the same.

I made a sweet book in honor of Goose & Llama. Many of you followed along as we tried to save Birdie and fell in love with this odd couple. The book is short and sweet, 33 pages, 8.5 x 11, softcover, beautifully printed, and is told through the voice of Goose. Order today for mid to late May shipping. Limited quantities!

Includes full page photos and some art. A beautiful memory keepsake.

"Upside Down World" inspired by the residents of Apifera past and present.
What else is going on? We are excited to be making progress in finding volunteer drivers who will pick up elder residents and bring them to Apifera for animal visits. This is an ongoing process but we are excited that we are slowly creating a network of Apifera Angels. We love our mid coast community! Final Barn Addition: hope to start early summer and still raising money for it. The Earnest Hut: a four season hut for Earnest the pig, fit for a king is in the makings as we speak.
