IT'S TIME FOR CALVARY NIGHT LIVE!
Each year, our youth group hosts a variety show in an effort to fundraise for our annual summer trip. Although Calvary Night Live is a fundraiser, I would argue that it has become a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together on a Saturday evening and share a meal and lots of laughter.

What goes on at Calvary Night Live?: Josh Borderud and Joel Weaver will be back in action next Saturday (April 27th) as the MC’s for CNL. They will, without  a doubt, provide wonderful entertainment as we eat delicious food and bid in a magnificent dessert auction. Calvary Youth have been working on preparations and skits for over a month now, and we can’t wait to share our hard work with you.

A little about the trip we’re raising $$ for: This year, our youth (7th -12th graders) are heading to La Feria, Texas for one week this summer to serve alongside the people of this amazing, South Texas community. We will be joining together with the group of Calvarians that have been to South Texas in the past, which makes this intergenerational service learning opportunity even more meaningful.

We hope that Calvary Night Live will provide space for our church to be together as a community, but also allow students to raise funds for this trip. Do us a favor; add CNL to your calendar! See you there!

Easter at Calvary
As is our tradition at Calvary, we added flowers to the Easter cross on Sunday morning as a vibrant reminder of the resurrection and the promise of new life.

Associate Pastor Search Update
Friends, the Associate Pastor Search Committee has worked steadily for the past three months to find just the right person to help lead our family of faith in the areas of mission, spiritual formation, and administration.  We interviewed some of our top candidates via online conference calls this week and will continue the discernment process until we bring our committee’s recommendations before the church. Please keep the team in your prayers as we press forward in this important task.

Serving in Summer Missions?
This summer, people from Calvary will be serving on mission all around the world! If you will be serving on a mission trip, at a summer camp, or in a summer ministry internship, we would love for you to participate in our summer missions commissioning time at the end of worship on Sunday, May 5. Please e-mail Mallory Herridge (mhherridge@gmail.com) and let her know where and when you will be serving so that Calvary can support you in prayer and follow along with your journey.

Update on Brenda Bradley
Calvary Family,
Last week, Brenda Bradley, a beloved member of our Calvary family, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We encourage you to visit the Bradleys’ Caring Bridge site and sign up to receive regular updates at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brendabradley2. Many of you are asking how you can help support Brenda, Randall, Hannah, and Isaac. Some friends of the family have recently set up a Go Fund Me Page to raise money for travel expenses for the Bradleys in the coming days. You can read more about it at the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/back-the-bradleys.  Once the Bradleys know more about their next steps, we will know more about tangible ways we can come alongside them to help with meals, transportation, hosting their friends and family during visits to Waco, and other needs. We will keep you updated on the best ways to support them in the days ahead.

West Avenue - Saturday Tutoring Sessions
Principal Weeks has asked if we can support 3rd-5th grade students at West Avenue who are working hard to pass the STAAR test this spring. He has set up Saturday tutoring sessions from 9:00-10:45 AM. Each tutor will be assigned to 2-3 students to work in a group. The school can provide us with all the materials we need for tutoring, so no special knowledge is needed. The dates are: March 30, April 6, April 13, April 27, May 4, and May 11, and you can pick the Saturdays that work for you. Many of these students are just short of passing by one or two questions, so some help in a small setting should make a big difference for them! Please contact Jennifer Low know if you would like to help (jlow@hot.rr.com).

Global Missions
I went in March 2011 to Lebanon as an answer to a call for help from LSESD, Lebanese Society for Education and Social Development, in establishing a center of support services for children with special needs. Up to this point in time, the Lebanese school system did not have any special education programs set up in their schools. We, as Lebanese Baptists, founded SKILD, Special Kids with Individual Learning Differences, to specifically support the teachers and families of students with special needs, starting at BBS, Beirut Baptist School, established in the 1950s by my parents in the basement of our apartment building in Beirut.

Since 2011, SKILD has exploded into over 45 schools and even into Jordan altering the potentials of hundreds of children with special needs. Their mission statement is, “to see every child in Lebanon and the Middle East recognized for his/her potential and valued as an integral part of society.”

So, if it’s so successful, why are Tim and I going back at this time? Many of these students, because of SKILD, have graduated high school, passed all the government exams, and are wanting to continue their education. That’s where I come into play again in answer to another request from LSESD to establish a disability support office at Notre Dame University, NDU, just like I did at Baylor. NDU would also like me to put together an 18-hour certification program that teachers in training can add on to their degrees for supplementary preparedness.

Whew. . . the task is daunting, but I’m thrilled to be of service and carry on my parents’ legacy in Lebanon. I thought I had hung up this hat, but apparently the Lord had other plans! There’s no way I could do this at this season in my life without Tim’s care-giving support. So off we go to Lebanon for the month of May and into June. We desperately need your prayers for health, endurance, and retired brain cells to get fired up again!

Contributing Financially to Calvary
Each week, we present our offerings as an act of worship. However, many of us pay for the majority of our expenses online or through an automatic-withdraw from our bank accounts, and each month when we pay our expenses, we can present an offering to God in these ways too. You can give to Calvary online at http://cbcwaco.net/give-to-calvary, but please note that 1-2% of your gift will go toward transaction fees. If you would like to set up an automatic withdrawal from your bank account, which has no transaction fees, please contact Phil Sitton at psitton@cbcwaco.net
