Every year, the Eagle Valley Library District and Eagle County Historical Society come together to present the Nimon-Walker Award. The Nimon-Walker Award recognizes individuals, families, and groups who have played an active role in preserving and promoting the history of Eagle County. This year’s event honors former EVLD Local History Librarian (2006 - 2015), Jaci Spuhler!

Please join the Eagle Valley Library District and the Eagle County Historical Society for an afternoon of rich local history honoring 2019 Nimon-Walker Award winner, Jacilyn Spuhler
on Sunday, April 28, at 2:00 pm at the Avon Public Library. Seating is limited, please arrive early. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

This year’s event features a special portrayal of Colorado pioneer Doctor Susan Anderson “Doc Susie” by Kathy Naples. Doc Susie was the small and fierce female physician who overcame social barriers to establish a medical practice in Fraser, Colorado in 1909. Doc Susie’s medical career stretched over two World Wars, the development of vaccines and microscopes, and the construction of the Moffat Tunnel. Naples is a career librarian and researcher from Grand County.
