Moon Pluto Magic

I clearly remember when I met the Tarot. My astrology teacher at the time was doing a three-class Tarot intro and I jumped at the chance. I’d heard of it but never touched a deck. I fell in love right away. It was weird and mysterious and I felt for a moment that Tarot was even more cool than astrology! Flash forward 15 years later and I do both for a living. The Tarot, however, is still just as weird and mysterious to me even though I play with the deck every day.

Yes I'm taking new clients & students! Now booking for May.

One Tarot topic that I think doesn’t get talked about enough is Tarot for the good times.

These are the times when it’s not about hustling for clients nor hustling for prediction to soothe that gnawing feeling of “what will be?”

I’m talking about Tarot when there’s no crisis and no burning question, but you want to touch the cards because Tarot is your friend.

You want to say hello just like in real life, the way you’d text or pick up the phone. You don’t only call your friends when you have a crisis, right? Tarot is the same.

Tarot wants your love and care and attention even when times are neutral or stable or good or great.

Today's Tarot is the Knight of Cups!

Here are two examples of quickie Tarot you can do just for fun, just to explore, just to say hello to your cards, especially if you’ve been gone from them awhile.

Note: I tend to be fairly philosophical and thus my Tarot spreads often ask Big Questions. No previous Tarot experience or knowledge is required to do these although you will need a Tarot deck.

One Card Draw: Who Am I?

Some of my favorite Tarot spreads consist of just one card. It’s also a great way to learn the cards, to learn by doing, because with just one card you can go super deep asap, either by gazing at the imagery or tuning in to your intuition or looking up the meaning in a book. Maybe do all three.

There are no rules for how to do this stuff no matter what anyone says. Shuffle or not. Cut the cards or not. Pick one from the middle even. Your choice. Then pop the question.

If you want, you can reflect on the meaning for a minute, for an hour, for a day. You can leave the card on your desk or pinned to the fridge. This is Tarot for calm reflection. It wouldn’t surprise me if you got a raise or a promotion at work and you pull a King or a Queen or Emperor. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if this seemingly random card draw accurately reflects your life or where you want to be or where you will be soon.

Tarot, who am I?

Here is another one card draw, but with a different question: What Do I Need To Know Now?

This was a popular question for my students to ask, especially when there was no crisis query, but we wanted to play.

Tarot, after all, from the start, was a game. Such a question opens up that weird mysterious Tarot portal and there’s a certain delight to me in the vagueness of it, the open ended questioning.

We aren’t asking what do we need to know about the relationship, job, family issue, quotidian, mundane, but instead a search for truth and meaning that is beyond mere fortune telling and more about your state of BEING at this time -- that if there is a message that needs to come through, let’s hear it.

Tell us, spirit. Tell us what we need to know.

What's your Tarot routine these days? Do you have one? Do you do Tarot in the good times too? I can hear some of you says: good times? What good times? Well, Tarot can help you with those too, dear star lovers. We are not apart from our spiritual practices. We ARE our spiritual practices. Every breath is a spell, a prayer.

I wish you a beautiful week.
