Thank You Corner: Community Superhero Saturday
Thank you to everyone who came to enjoy Saturday—Superhero style! It was great to see so many teachers and families helping and enjoying the day. The carnival is now a tradition at Lakeshore and grew successfully this year thanks to a village of support.

Mr. Hartford reads a certificate sent by the office of Kamala Harris to all of Lakeshore's super students

Thank you to the organizations who provided supplies or came out to run booths and entertain kids: National Park Service Ranger Lucien Sonder from the San Francisco Maritime Museum, the San Francisco Horsemen's Association, the California Rescue Dog Association, Palomacy who brought homing pigeons, Planet Bee, Janet Kracker and Kracker Ranch, Home Depot, Jamie Chan at Sisterhood Gardens, SCRAP, Peet's Coffee at Stonestown, Merced Branch Library, Playworks, Academic Chess, New Conservatory Theatre Center, the San Francisco Department of the Environment, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management, and the Taraval Police station.

We greatly appreciated the support from student volunteer organization Heart in Motion, who saved the day with around 30 students to help set up, clean up, and everything in between. They worked for six hours, had great attitudes, and were super with our kids! To participate in the Lakeshore community donation as a token of our thanks, please Venmo or PayPal a few dollars to Deb Tjoa at @dtjoa or debtjoa+bills@gmail.com.

Do you have photos to share? Upload them to bit.ly/ls19shspix.

Deep gratitude to all the parents who planned, publicized, designed, built and ran booths, shopped, cooked tasty food, sold admission tickets/raffle tickets/spirit gear/auction items, selected and handed out prizes, provided excellent music, set up, and cleaned up, especially those who went the extra mile to make up for gaps in volunteer power. We couldn't have done it without you, and are looking forward to even more parent involvement next year!

Last but not least, a HUGE ROUND OF THANKS to this year's lead organizers, Michelle Dockery, Hollie Retzinger, Jeanette Feddes, and Braz Salangsang for expanding this event and improving on the foundation built over the last few years. This team met numerous times to come up with Superhero Bucks to reward students and to enhance the activities, games, and food this year for everyone to enjoy.

THANK YOU!

Staff Appreciation Week:
May 6-10

Next week, May 6-10, is Staff Appreciation Week! Let's say thanks to our Lakeshore teachers and staff by bringing them a little something to brighten up each day. Participation is optional and gifts do not need to be expensive.

Monday: Bring a piece of fruit
Tuesday: Bring a yummy treat
Wednesday: Bring your teacher a flower so they'll end up with a beautiful class bouquet
Thursday: Bring in school supply that your class/teacher can use
Friday: Bring in a thank-you card explaining why you love your teacher. The PTA will also organize a breakfast for our entire staff.

If there's a staff member other than your classroom teacher who has made an impact this year (e.g., librarian, PE, yard duty, office staff, paraprofessional, enrichment consultants), feel free to thank them as well with extra fruit, treats, flowers, supplies, or cards!
