Judge orders release of full Franklin shooting video. Today at 5 p.m., CMPD will release the 11-minute bodycam video related to last month's shooting of Danquirs Franklin. Last week, a shortened version was released that sparked questions of why the full video wasn't shown and why City Council members were allowed to view the footage in its entirety. Read the story. Next Level Leadership ‘Be Mindful’ event provides mental health outlet for Black boys. Beyond leadership training, Next Level Leadership's inaugural class was looking to impact young Black males in the community. About 40 young men, ages 8 to 18, attended the Be Mindful: Saving Our Black Boys event where they rotated among three sessions, each tapping into a different area of mental health. Read the story.

Will hemp become Charlotte’s top cash crop? Marijuana’s cannabis cousin, hemp, is gaining popularity for its various uses. And it's expected to bring in the big bucks. U.S. hemp-based product sales are projected to reach $1.9 billion by 2022. Local entrepreneur Clarence Boston is getting in the game with his business, Cultivation of Agriculture, Inc. Black farmers represent less than 2% of the country’s 3.2 million farmers.
