Hi <<First Name>>,

Four stylish car projects, four legends to tell - an ethereal CGI campaign for BMW with Alessandra Kila and a fairy-tale princess for Mercedes by Dan Burn-Forti. Back to the future, we travel to the 1980s with a classic DeLorean by Tomek Olszowski and a vibrant Citi Golf series by Andreas Hempel

Have fun choosing your own adventure,

Christoph

BMW - Alessandra Kila

BMW - Alessandra Kila

Originally developed from a creative partnership with the BMW design department, our London team collaborated intensively with Alessandra Kila to realize her vision in pure CGI. "For this project I have imagined a series of site-specific art installations that experiment with the materiality of light and with the emotional effects of luminosity. Within the journey from one installation to another, the BMW 7 is incorporated in these installations, becoming itself a light sculpture."

We interpreted the artist's idea of a beaming light curtain in CGI. Virtual elements of flares and dust particles, mixed with photographic layers of neon tubes and illuminated screens, create a tangible atmosphere for this innovative worldwide launch campaign.

Our London studio came up with a custom process to speed up the lighting simulation for ultimate creative flexibility. See more fascinating details of this multilateral project on our blog.

Mercedes - Dan Burn-Forti

Mercedes - Dan Burn-Forti

'Justify nothing' is the motto of the worldwide Mercedes B-Class campaign, which celebrates every day moments with a quirky twist. The perfect job for photographer Dan Burn-Forti who loves to take a curious look at ordinary life. Dan shot various scenarios around Madrid and Valencia, using a previous model as a stand-in.

Still secret at the time, the all new B-Class was taken to a private platform where post artist Jonas Braukmann, from our Berlin studio, joined the crew to match angles with the stand-in. We added city reflections in CGI as well as key elements in other shots, such as a bouncy house or a leopard painted facade. Additional images of this fun campaign on our website.

Tales of the Citi - Andreas Hempel

Tales of the Citi - Andreas Hempel

With this dazzling series Andreas Hempel is paying homage to the first generation Golf, and our Stuttgart team greatly enjoyed finessing it in post.

In 1984 VW ceased production of its popular model in the US and shipped the old tooling to Volkswagen of South Africa. Re-branded as the Citi Golf and initially only available in red, yellow and blue - think Piet Mondrian - the super basic Citi continued to roll off the assembly line for another 25 years until it was finally discontinued in 2009. Despite its lack of any creature comforts (it doesn't even have power steering) the iconic Retro-Rabbit enjoys a huge following to this very day. South Africans love to pimp it out and pose with it. More of this on Behance

DeLorean - Tomek Olszowski

DeLorean - Tomek Olszowski

Tomek Olszowski always dreamed about shooting the iconic DeLorean, the only model ever produced by the short lived motor company DMC. Within 24 months about 9,000 cars were built before production stalled in 1983 when the entire US automobile market plummeted.

Tomek managed to find a pristine model in his home country Poland and took the stainless steel time machine to a dusty gravel pit, giving it a feel of mystic, industrial glory.

Our London team developed a faded look with an overall combination of magenta/violet, and yellow/orange hues, echoing an eighties palette of early digital and laser colours. Take a look behind the scenes on our blog.
