AER discusses Digitalisation and Health with European Commissioners

On 20 March, AER had two meetings at the Berlaymont, the European Commission headquarters, with Commissioner Gabriel and with Commissioner Andriukaitis.

It is with great sadness that AER was informed of the death of Ms Monica Carlsson, a long-term and active member of our organisation. Ms Carlsson, an elected representative of the Swedish region of Norrbotten, fought relentlessly both at home and in Europe for fairer and more inclusive societies.

AER at DEMOCRACY ALIVE

As a network of regions across Europe, AER is proud to have taken part in the Democracy Alive festival on Texel (NL). The event brought together citizens, stakeholders and elected representatives to discuss issues relating to European affairs ahead of the European Elections. Amongst the festivals' prominent guests were Commissioner M. Vestager and Brexit Chief Negotiator M. Barnier, who both visited the AER Pavilion.

#Shinebright Oppland for promoting the 2030 Agenda

The region of Oppland suggested that as many of AERs activities are already contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals, AER should promote the 2030 agenda, and raise visibility of how AER and its member regions are contributing to this. On 15 May 2019, the region of Oppland will be hosting a breakfast debate “SDGs and regional growth – is it possible?” at the Oslo Regional Office in Brussels.

The Measure Civil Society Projects aims to support projects promoted by transnational partnerships and networks that directly involve citizens, therefore providing them an opportunity to actively participate in the European policy-making process.
