Scenic Hudson is pleased to partner again with the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) in Pleasantville for the Focus on Nature film series. Over the next four weeks, the theater will screen 13 thought-provoking and moving nonfiction films about the beauty, power and mystery of nature, and some of the people working to protect it.

The Biggest Little Farm (Thursday, April 18, 7 p.m.)
A testament to the immense complexity of nature and an inspirational story about a young couple who leave LA and move onto 200 acres in the foothills of Ventura County to build one of the most diverse farms of its kind. (Q&A and reception following the screening.)
Backyard Wilderness in 3D (April 19 through 25, various times)
An award-winning 3D sensation focuses on a girl named Katie who turns away from her screens and devices to discover the secrets that nature has hidden so close to her front door. (April 20 screening features Q&A with filmmakers Susan Todd and Andy Young.)
Grand Cru (Saturday, April 20, 7:15 p.m.)
This profile of Pascal Marchand is both a love letter to winemaking and a cautionary tale about the unpredictable and destructive consequences of climate change. (Q&A and reception following the screening.)
Anote’s Ark (Monday, April 22, 7 p.m.)
The remote Pacific Island nation of Kiribati is one of the first countries that must confront imminent annihilation from sea-level rise. Anote’s Ark captures urgent matters of daily life to a people who confront inevitable change head-on.
Genesis 2.0 (Tuesday, April 23, 7 p.m.)
Threads a connection between ancient history and modern technology through the work of high-tech clone researchers aiming to use well-preserved carcasses of extinct woolly mammoths to bring this great beast back to life.
Save the Date
Hope on the Hudson (Monday, April 29, 7 p.m.) An evening of short films hosted by filmmaker and environmentalist Jon Bowermaster chronicles stories of efforts to preserve the Hudson River and its surroundings over the last half century. Scenic Hudson President Ned Sullivan joins Bowermaster and other guests for a post-screening Q&A.
