Written by Bill Warrington and Ken Brown

Edited by Town of Kindersley

Women have played important roles on the farm over Saskatchewan’s history. Loverna area farmer and historian, Bill Warrington, wants people to recognize their efforts.

“We don’t give them nearly the credit they need for what they did,” the historian said, referring to rural women and all of the things they did, and continue to do, to help out on the farm and in their rural communities.

Warrington, who is the chairperson for the Kindersley & District Plains Museum, said the museum has plenty of artifacts in its collection that pertain to the roles of rural women, but the museum lacks the stories behind the women and the tools they used throughout history. Read More...

Kindersley Lagoon Funding

Kindersley has been approved for funding through the Provincial Territorial Infrastructure Component for National and Regional Projects of the New Building Canada Fund. The funding is for upgrades to the Kindersley Lagoon which will allow for future capacity and growth and will ensure that we continue meeting the government regulations for treatment of effluent under Water Security Agencies. This project was initially sent in 2015 and final approval has now been given. The project will be completed in a 2 year phase. This will greatly increase our wastewater treatment capacity for our entire community. More information to come! Read More...

Frequently Asked Questions

How Old Must a Child be to Swim Alone?
Children under 7 or non-swimmers who cannot pass the "swim test" must be within arms reach of a responsible caregiver, an adult or youth who is a proficient swimmer. The "swim test" is being able to swim 12 metres (width of the Jr. Olympic Pool) with a recognizable stroke. This is up to the Lifeguards discretion whether or not the non-swimmer passes the test.
