A Message from the CEO - Melissa Knox
Working for a Not-for-Profit has unique challenges and quirks. One of these unique and challenging quirks, is the many stakeholders that we report to. Whether it is clients, funders, the community at large or individual donors, authorities and more. We report to all of them.

We put as many policies, procedures and systems in place as is practical and feasible. These are excellent policies. These are good systems. BUT, these are implemented by human beings and the human race is not void of error.

We employ professional, qualified, skilled staff to implement our good systems, but sometimes mistakes happen.

I was reminded of this fact when a community member recently complained for not being thanked for a wheelchair that was donated to us.
The system which should have led to the family being thanked was in place, but unfortunately a human error creeped into the process which lead to the procedure being breached …. and a community member being offended in the process whilst we had to return the donation.

As an NPO, we acknowledge that we are accountable to so many different stakeholders. Integrity, compliance and good governance is critical to us and we do our best to always acknowledge those who make it possible for us to do our work.

Thank you to our stakeholders who are part of the conversation that aims at improving our systems, services and interaction with our community. We appreciate you.

6 April 2019 : Ladies Tea & Mini Business Expo

Wow,  what an INCREDIBLE afternoon.  A big THANK YOU to all those who attended, sponsored prizes,  assisted with the planning and were involved in the execution thereof. A special thank you to Christian Centre who are key to the success of this fundraiser every year.

Our guest speaker, Marlene Neumann, kept to her word and had us up on our feet, out of our comfort zone and MOVING.  It was delightful listening to the laughing and interacting with other guests, all while shuffling around,  moving to the beat of the music.

Palliative Care: YOU Are a BRIDGE

YOU, are a bridge. It’s true. Or at least it is a good analogy.

When you are healthy, you can handle anything. Cars, Trucks, Trains, all the bumps of life. No problem. You are set.

But if you are facing a serious health issue, like kidney disease, lung disease or cancer, the bridge starts to falter. Cracks start to appear and pretty soon, it’s hard to withstand all that traffic. Traffic that includes, your own medical treatment. And that is where Palliative Care comes in.
