Weekly E-News

April 18, 2019

Good Friday Vigil, Noon to 3 pm
On Good Friday our sanctuary is open for prayer and quiet reflection from noon until 3 pm, with gospel readings on the hour and half hour. You're welcome to stay for as long or short as you wish.

Easter Sunday, April 21, at 10:30 am, "Everything is Waiting," Rev. Frank Clarkson Preaching
There are moments, big moments, when everything changes in an instant. And there are times that life unfolds slowly, gradually, even imperceptibly. The Biblical accounts of Easter are pretty dramatic, and happen quickly. But what if we imagine the resurrection as taking longer than three days? What if we take the time that’s needed for new life to emerge? What if we see Easter as just the beginning of a season of light and gladness? We hope to see you here this Sunday!

Easter Flowers
If you can, please bring Spring Flowers to help decorate our sanctuary for this Sunday’s Easter Service. Please be mindful of those with sensitivities and allergies to strong fragrances. Thanks!

Stewardship Committee Thanks You!
Thanks to all who have made pledges during this year’s stewardship campaign. Because of your generosity, we are about 92% of the way toward our goal. If you haven't pledged yet, we hope you will take time to return your pledge either in the mail, at the church or via email by clicking here, so we can reach our full goal. Thank you for all you do for the church community!

Community Meals
We are in need of helpers for this Saturday's Community Meal, we have a head cook, but need some helpers please! Come spend your Saturday afternoon helping our neighbors in need. If you can help, please contact Abbe, abbewertz@yahoo.com. We are also in need of volunteers for upcoming Meals so please look at your calendars and see when you can help. Thank you so much for your support of this valuable service to our community.

The Rose Tea is Saturday, May 4th.
For tickets and info contact Pat Feller at 39berry39@gmail.com. We would love a few more bakers to make treats for the tea--thanks in advance.

RE Plug Pond Clean Up, Sunday May 5th
Families are invited to this annual event at Plug Pond (also known as Lake Saltonstall) at 99 Mill St, Haverhill. We will meet up at 10:30 am and finish around noon. We ask that parents and caregivers stay with children at all times to ensure safe travel and clean up.

“In Our Own Voice” on Wednesday, April 24th from 7-8:30 pm in the Murray Room
Sponsored by our local NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), this event features 2 people who have the lived-experience of a mental illness. They will provide personal testimony about their own experience. This program gives the opportunity for members of the church community, as well as the larger community to learn more about an often invisible disability. If you have any questions contact Hal or Joanna Fortna.

Sanctuary Update: Come Meet Marius! Our congregation is part of the interfaith Sanctuary effort in the Merrimack Valley, which has recently welcomed Maris, an asylum seeker, into the Sanctuary space in Lowell. Marius is coming to Haverhill and speaking at Temple Emanu-El on Thursday, May 9. We hope you will come hear his story and show your support. Donations to help Marius will gratefully be accepted. In other related news, Georgia, the wife of an area man recently deported, is in need of a laptop computer. If you have one you can donate, please contact Jane Hucks. The next volunteer training will be Sunday, May 19 at CCU in Lowell from 2-4 pm. The next Jericho walk will be May 21st at the ICE building in Burlington.

The goal is to better understand who Trans people are, the special challenges they face and learn how to be more welcoming and better friends to them. The workshop will feature a moderated panel presentation by transgender people and family members. Childcare will be provided.
