Dear Kerugma Supporter,

As Christians we are celebrating this week the most powerful seven days in the world’s history; something that changed the dynamics of everything. This week began with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and moved to the place of the cross and finally to the power of God being made manifest at the tomb with Jesus’ resurrection.

The last words of a person on his deathbed are usually very significant. We therefore would like to invite you to take a good look at the last days that Jesus spent on earth and to consider once more what it was that He regarded as very important to share with His disciples. We would like to do that on the basis of the discussion by dr. Randall Smith in the 4-part DVD series, “7 Days That Changed the World”.

In this series Dr. Randall Smith gives a complete presentation of the full sequence of what Jesus did moment by moment from day to day during his last seven days before His crucifixion up until His resurrection.

Part 1
Jesus' final visit to Jerusalem would start in Bethany. From there we walk with Jesus and the disciples down to the Kidron Valley and up to the Temple.

In the final part of this series, we see the various crucifixion methods used by the Romans and get a deeper insight into Christ’s suffering and burial.

It is amazing to see what distance the Lord Jesus and His disciples walked each day from the home of Lazarus where they lodged during that week, to the temple and back.

Even more amazing is what happened sequentially on each day of that Passover week in the time of Jesus and His disciples. Jesus knew that he was the Lamb that was going to be slain that Passover, while His disciples did not understand any of it. As Randall explains: “At the temple the priests begin to examine those lambs that will be slaughtered for Passover… It is ironic that the story of the Passion Week really is a story of the Lamb testing those who are testing the Lamb. He is the Lamb of God that came to take away the sin of the world. Yet they are testing the lambs for the Passover”.

The scene at the triclinium, the three sided table, with its distinct seating positions where Jesus had His last meal with His disciples is astounding. Did Jesus, knowing who was going to betray Him, give Judas the seat of honour, the seat one reserves only for your most trusted friend? According to the customs of the time the text clearly points to this.

The most remarkable is the method of crucifixion and the kind of “crosses” that the Romans used in Israel.
However, what grips one’s heart is Randall’s presentation about the lives of those who saw the resurrected Jesus with their own eyes. Yes, they were crucified, boiled alive in oil, beheaded … all because they could not deny that he was alive and waiting upon them at the throne.

After the release of this 4-part series in 2010, it had been broadcast on national TV in South Africa by SABC 2 with part 4 on Easter Sunday. Part 4 focuses on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Here at Kerugma Productions we received an overwhelming response from the viewer’s public.
