CSSE 2019: Seeking Conference Volunteers 

The Faculty of Education at UBC is proud to host the Annual Conference of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) from June 1 to 5, 2019. We expect over 1200 delegates from across Canada to attend this bilingual conference, which is held in conjunction with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Volunteering for CSSE comes with some great benefits. Applications are now being accepted through our online portal.

Final application deadline: May 4, 2019.

Three-year Grant Awarded to DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society

Dr. Robinder Bedi, ECPS, is part of a team that has been awarded a $600,000, three-year grant from Status of Women Canada (principal applicant: DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society). The name of the project is “Mainstreaming Culture in Safety Planning for Survivors of Violence and their Children: The Impact of the Signs of Safety™ model of the Cultural Safety of Vulnerable Immigrant and Refugee Women and Children Experiencing Domestic Violence.”

The Dean hosts the second of two Dean’s External Advisory Board meetings of the 2018-2019 year

The Dean hosted his bi-annual External Advisory Board meeting Thursday night with guest presenters Dr. Marvin Westwood and Mr. Tim Laidler, who discussed the Centre for Group Counselling and Trauma and the Veterans Transition Network.

The External Advisory Board provides advice, support and assistance to the Dean and the Faculty relating to the activities and strategic directions of the Faculty of Education. The mandate includes academic and professional programs, the relationship of the Faculty with the business and public sector communities, alumni relations and development activities.
