Dear Prevent20 colleague,

Bangladesh Cancer Society (BCS) urgently needs your help to support efforts to increase tobacco taxes. Oncologist and BCS Joint Secretary Prof. Dr. Golam Mohiuddin Faruque has recorded a personal appeal you can watch
herePlease watch the video, then click here to read his letter and add your organization's name and logo in support of BCS

Sign on to the letter

Dr. Faruque will meet with the Ministries of Health and Finance later this month. He wants to present the letter to them to deliver two key messages - that tobacco taxation is cancer prevention, and that Bangladesh's government must raise tobacco taxes this year. Please act today to show your support for BCS by signing on to the letter. By adding your voice in support of Dr. Faruque, Prevent20 will send a powerful message to policymakers in Bangladesh and increase the chance of delivering progress on this critical health policy.

And if your cancer organization would like to pursue a similar strategy in your country, let us know - we'd be happy to help.

Join us for our next Virtual Café on communication!

On May 7th 2019 at 08:00 ET we will hold our next Virtual Café - Communicating with stakeholders about Tobacco Taxes and Cancer PreventionThis event has been specially developed for cancer organizations in response to member requests for help in developing impactful messages and communication strategies for cancer prevention and tobacco taxes.

Register for the Virtual Café
This event comes at a great time: Every cancer organization can use the theme of this year’s World No Tobacco Day on May 31st (Tobacco’s harm to lung health) to speak about using tobacco taxes to reduce preventable tobacco-related cancers and lung disease.

Our partners at Vital Strategies will lead this Virtual Café. In this interactive workshop, you’ll be working with experts in advocacy, media relations and social media ready to help you develop messages and practical strategies you can use for World No Tobacco Day and beyond.

Please go
here to take action today to support our colleagues at Bangladesh Cancer Society, and register for our next Virtual Café here – we look forward to seeing you there! In the meantime, please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
