The story of ‘Michigan Women in the National Suffrage Movement’ will be the topic of the program given by Beverly Fish, at 3:00 PM, this Saturday, April 20, at the Battle Creek Regional History Museum (BCRHM).

In 2017, Fish presented a program at the museum about Laura Havilland, a close friend and companion of Sojourner Truth.

The program will feature some of Michigan’s historic figures that have had an impact on furthering the basic rights of women regionally and nationally.

Fish, a resident of Ypsilanti, has spent many years researching and promoting the history and importance of women in the state of Michigan and how they affected national politics.

Recently, she was surprised to find out that one of her ancestors, Catherine Fish Stebbins, from the Rochester, New York area had been actively promoting women’s rights in the late 1800’s…and had been an acquaintance of Sojourner Truth (the subject of Fish’s thesis).

The program will be held at the BCRHM, at 307 West Jackson Street. The program along with refreshment will be provided at no charge, but donations are appreciated.
