Hi. We're getting ready for April 26. Are you? If yes, you'd know to take the J to see Jay-Z at Webster Hall (if you're traveling between Brooklyn and Manhattan). If not, our new videos are here to help. Also, if you're listening carefully, you can hear one of the changes we've already made in the stations.
Still have questions? Save our number or tweet at us with #LProject for advice. Or meet us in person. We'll be back out this weekend and all next week at an L station near you. Check the schedule below and say hi.
Also we're well aware that this is a Saturday-issued newsletter...but April 26 is next Friday. So two things:
- If you've updated your profile with us including your home station, look out this week for a special edition travel guide to help you plan.
- The L Project Weekly will come out on Friday next week.

New: Plan your trip with our quick videos
|

We have the alternate service details and maps on our website. Read about these alternatives to plan a faster and more reliable trip than the L on nights and weekends in many cases.
We also heard from a few of you that video clips showing the service in action would be helpful, too.
Here you go:

From Brooklyn to Manhattan
The Williamsburg Link + M train (every 8 minutes) combo will give the every-20-minute-L train some fierce competition for a faster trip. See your options here.

L Project prep you might not have thought of but we did: Changing train arrival announcements
|
|
Did you hear anything different this week about our L train arrival announcements? Yes? Kudos to you and this very attentive customer.
As discussed, some L trains will run only in Brooklyn on nights and weekends, last stop Lorimer. And in some stations (3 Av, 1 Av, Bedford Av), we'll be single-tracking with trains going in both directions on one platform. So our old "The next train is now arriving on the [DESTINATION]-bound track" doesn't work.
So we huddled—MTA IT, our Operations Planning team, and some folks under Chief Customer Officer Sarah Meyer—and made a plan. In summary: don't identify the train based on the track it's on.
Solution: "The next [DESTINATION]-bound train is now arriving."

We're working for on the weekend
Our system is 24/7 and so is our customer service team. And we're adding a few team members on the nights and weekends to make sure you get the help you need. Here are the fastest ways you can get in touch with us:
- Sign up for our text alerts. These are for all our transit services. Sign up for the ones that are right for you, including the L.
- Call 511 and say "L train": 511 is our hotline, and if you say "Subways" and then "L train" at the prompts, you'll be routed to one of our trained L Project experts.
- Tweet @NYCTSubway with #LProject: Not bots. Real people. Real trip-planning help.
- Ask a team member: Especially for the first few weekends, we'll have lots of staff out from 8 Av to Lorimer St. Look for someone with a pink button that says "Ask me about the L Project." Then ask them about the L Project.
