Conscious Skincare Facial Toner / Spritz Range
|
|
With spring on its way, now is a good time to talk about toners.
These are a great way to stay fresh during the warmer days ahead.
So What is a Hydrolat / Toner / Floral Water?
Well, actually, these are all names for same thing. A hydrolat, hydrosol, toner or floral water, whatever you like to call it, comes from making essential oils. It’s a by-product of the distillation process used to make essential oils and the great thing about hydrolats is that they retain many of the benefits of the essential oils that they came from.
We love hydrolats. They’re easy to use, have a wonderful aroma and I don’t think they are praised enough so give them a try!

Step Aside the Magnificent 7, here come the Magnificent 8!
Looking like the line up of super stars that they are, these gorgeous 8, nutrient rich, power- packed cold pressed oils can do so much to benefit your skin.
But many people are confused and wary about oils and how to use them most effectively.
There are lots of questions and concerns such as ‘which oil is best for which skin type?’, ‘ how do they improve your skin?’ or ‘don’t they just make your skin feel all oily and greasy?’
Read on to find out the answers!

Firstly, the oiliness / greasiness question.
Oils can feel like they leave a residue if the oil you use has been blended with other cheaper oils such as mineral oil (derived from the black oil drilled out of the ground).
The molecular structure of mineral oil means your skin can’t absorb it; it sits on top of the skin like a greasy pool covering the pores.
As well as being a potential pore blocker, it also inhibits the skin’s ability to ‘breathe’ - to respire and perspire, 2 of its key processes to keep you healthy.
It’s surprising to see many brands of oil, marketed as high-end expensive luxe oils contain undesirable, skin-clogging additives which dilute any benefit of the plant oil which often appears way down the ingredients’ list.
Our oils are different .
- They are all 100% pure, natural oils, certified organic*
- There are no synthetics in here - no dilutions with cheap, refined oils such as mineral oil
- They are cold-pressed
All you see on the ingredient list for our oils, is the name of the oil. And that’s all you will find inside the bottle too.
* All our oils are certified organic with the exception of Abyssinian which is not produced organically.

Benefits of Cold Pressed Pure Oils
Many oils are extracted using heat and solvents which destroys all the nutritional benefits of the oil.
Our oils are produced using a method called cold pressing only. No solvents are used to extract the oil. This means the oils retain as many of the naturally-occurring vitamins and minerals as possible during processing.

How to Apply Oil
Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of oil or moisturiser at a time.
If the skin is cold and the pores closed then even less. The key is to use oil sparingly, not to slather it on as if you are preparing roast potatoes!
Apply a small amount (less than half a teaspoon) of oil to the palm of your hand. Rub hands together gently to warm the oil and then press on the areas of your skin to treat. Gently massage in and blot of any excess with a clean cloth.
Choosing the right oil for your skin type
It’s confusing with so many oils out there. To help our customers, we have researched the benefits of each oil and then aligned them to a specific skin type. For our 4 skin type ranges, here’s what we recommend;
Sweet Almond Oil or Evening Primrose Oil - for dry, sensitive skin, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, redness
Hemp Oil or Evening Primrose Oil - for oily, problem skin, acne, scarring, blocked pores, blemishes, breakouts
Rosehip Oil or Apricot Kernel Oil - for mature skin, showing signs of ageing, fine lines, wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, uneven skin tone
Jojoba Oil , Argan Oil or Abyssinian Oil for normal to combination skin, T zone, occasional dryness, oiliness, cyclical breakouts, hair care, general use
This is a guide; we’re not prescriptive about which oil to use. Your skin may love some oils more than others so it’s important to see which one(s) your skin prefers.

Serums
For an extra boost to moisturising or to use as an intense facial treatment, we have created a serum for each skin type.
These are essentially a blend of organic oils with added active ingredients to enhance skin cell renewal.
Here’s a step by step guide on how to apply a serum;
1. Apply a few drops to clean fingertips and press fingertips together. This warms the serum and awakens the actives
2. Place on cheekbones, temples, forehead and around the mouth
3. Allow to sink in for a few moments
4. Gently massage in and blot off any excess with a clean cloth
