Growing and Changing: Seeds of Transformation

This Easter Sunday we'll be exploring our theme of Transformation and stories of Jesus' miracles which call us to collective transformation and to abundance!

In RE, we'll be exploring the springtime transformation of seeds into plants!  We'll be planting seeds in our greenhouse corner in the Art Hive - and using some ancient technology to keep them watered throughout the spring.  I hope you'll join us to find out all about ollas!
Next RE Lunch
June 2nd 12pm

Join our whole community for a soup & bread lunch after church.  Your contributions of nut-free desserts are always appreciated!!

This lunch is the last event of our RE year - I hope you'll join us!

The RE Lunch is a gift to our community for which there is no cost.  There is often soup left over at the end of the meal - bring a container to take some home!
The Prayground in the Sanctuary is a spot for kids to have a great view of the service - please consider sitting as a family nearby!  We hope you enjoy the theme materials to go along with our services - please feel free to keep any colouring sheets or story pages your kids create.
This Week in Youth Group
Do you believe in miracles?  What does a modern miracle look like?  Youth Team member Caite Clark will be leading a discussion around miracles in our lives.
Gardeners needed!  This Sunday we're going to be planting seeds, but we also artists and engineers to help make this garden grow!  What skills do you have to share?
Last Week

We explored transformation through art - making puppets like in our Time for All Ages story, based on Pinocchio.  In this story Pinocchia Becomes a Real Boy, a puppet which strongly resembles the familiar fairy tale puppet Pinocchio begins life as a puppet who looks like a girl, only to grow up to become a Real Boy.  But more importantly, he learns to be a Real Person (by sharing love, friendship, and kindness to others).

During RE time, we challenged kids to remember the characters in the Time for All Ages stories we've told, and made puppets based on those characters - who have your favourites been?
Follow Up

What are your favourite stories?  What characters most inspire you?  Whose story do you want to explore?

Some stories have a strong belonging to the cultures that created them - this is why we don't rewrite oral history stories from Indigenous communities.  We can learn from their wisdom, but changing them to suit our own narratives is a form of cultural appropriation.

Some stories, like those which come from our own European traditions, are a wonderful source of ideas and imagination!!  What story could you rewrite?
