Join us Thursday, April 25th for the Annual membership meeting at the Arboretum. We will be meeting at 5:30 in the Welcome Center. At the meeting, we will be thanking our board members who have completed their first and second terms, as well as voting in new officers.

Attendance is open to current members of the Arboretum. This will be a potluck event and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, though it is not necessary for attendance to the meeting. Please RSVP online so that we can provide enough seating.

Annual Plant Sale
Once again, we're partnering with Green Scene for our annual plant sale. Stop by the National Cattle Congress Grounds at the Agricultural building on Saturday, May 11th from 9:00-12:00 and bring the whole family to help get your gardens ready for spring. 

There will be a variety of annuals, perennials, and other assorted plants to purchase. Each item you take home helps to continue the amazing work done by our organizations. We highly recommend bringing baskets or other transportation methods from the NCC grounds. Come early because the line will form fast!

Did you know that members recieve a discount coupon to be used at the plant sale? Depending on your membership level, you could get $2, $3, or even $5 off your total purchase! Not sure if you're a member? Call the office at 319-226-4966 and we can check for you. Want to renew your membership before the sale? Visit Arboretums & Botanic Gardens around the US!
Did you know that there are 6 other botanic gardens in Iowa that are a part of the American Horticultural Society's Reciprocal Admissions program? 

These gardens are a great place to visit on a day trip or a quick road trip for a weekend off. Learn more about the over 320+ gardens you can visit with a reciprocal admission from the Cedar Valley Arboretum here. 
The Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Gardens are excited to partner with Green Scene once again for our annual plant sale. Please join us on Saturday, May 11th from 9-12 at the Agricultural building on the Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo. Between the two non-profits, there will be a wide selection of annuals and perennials as well as succulents, house plants and much more! Cash or check only, no cards will be accepted. Arboretum members will receive a discount coupon by mail to be used at the plant sale.

Mother’s Day- Free Admission Day
Free Admission Days are offered to community members so that they can enjoy access to the Arboretum throughout the season. Additional dates may be offered with sponsorship.  On Mother’s Day, all mothers will receive free admission to the Arboretum.

National Public Gardens Week
Stop by the Arboretum during National Public Gardens Week and share why public gardens such as ours are important to you! Follow us on social media and use the hashtags #MyGarden, #CVABGnationalpublicgardensweek, and #Nationalpublicgardensweek to show us the fun activities you do at the Arboretum.

For ornamental use or for brewing beer, hops are one of the most intriguing edible plants you can grow in your garden today. Learn how to grow your own plants, growing techniques, harvesting and unique crafts. $15 for non-members, $13.50 for members

Join us for Storytime with the Penny Popp and Karen Barnes as they read stories in the children's garden. Free trolley rides will be offered after the story is read with time for questions as well. This event is free with regular admission: $5 for adults (ages 18+), $2 for children (ages 5-17), Ages 4 and under and members are free.

Succulent Tea Cups - 2:00-3:00
Join us for this special make and take course at the Arboretum. Instructor Keri Byrum will lead an educational session on taking care of succulents and then participants will be provided with succulents and tea cups to fill and take home. Enjoy treats and fresh tea as you create beautiful succulent displays. Each participant will receive a takeaway bag and be entered to win door prizes. $35 Non-members / $30 Members.

Kindness Rocks! – 10:30-11:30
Kindness rocks are a fun way to be creative, spread joy, and promote kindness in your community! Join Alex Williams, and avid kindness rocks maker and founder of KindnessRocksCF in making kindness rocks to be placed all over the Cedar Valley. This event is free with regular admission, however, preregistration is necessary to make sure we have enough materials. Regular Admission: $5 for adults (ages 18+), $2 for children (ages 5-17), Ages 4 and under and members are free.

Moonlight & Roses – 6:00-9:00
Join us for an elegant, magical evening in the gardens for a fundraiser featuring beautiful stringed lights, live jazz music, a wine tasting, catered food and of course many roses. Tickets are $65 for non-members and $55 for members.

Father’s Day – Free Admission For Fathers
Free Admission Days are offered to community members so that they can enjoy access to the Arboretum throughout the season. Additional dates may be offered with sponsorship. On Father’s Day, all fathers will receive free admission to the Arboretum.

Guided Garden Tours
Join us for a large group, walking tour of the Arboretum. This tour will be led by knowledgeable staff and volunteers of the Arboretum and take you on a trip through time and nature as you learn about the beginnings of the Arboretum and the work that was put into making us the location we are today. This event is free with regular admission: $5 for adults (ages 18+), $2 for children (ages 5-17), Ages 4 and under and members are free.

Flowering plants beware!  Coleus provides a stunning array of vibrant colors to brighten the garden.  Instructor, Tracy Grandy, will share information about this popular plant and guide participants in planting a spot of color for their own outdoor or windowsill garden.
