Pour souligner les derniers jours des expositions et célébrer l’arrivée du printemps, la Fonderie Darling organise un événement tripartite : dès 17h30, elle accueille le lancement montréalais du catalogue de Manif d’art 9 – La Biennale de Québec , en présence de Claude Bélanger, directeur général et artistique, et de Michelle Drapeau, commissaire adjointe de la biennale ; le lancement est suivi, sur la Plate-forme de lecture, d’une mise en lecture par Chloe Lewis et Andrew Taggart d’extraits de la troisième publication du Museum of Longing and Failure, en cours de production ; à 18h30, Guillaume B. B. et ses collaborateurs et collaboratrices activent une dernière fois l’espace d’exposition de Vapeurs avec l’explosive performance The Only Way To Know For Sure Is To Test Your Blood Sugar (durée approximative de 45 min).

To highlight the last days of our exhibitions and celebrate the arrival of Spring, the Darling Foundry is organizing a three-part event: from 5:30PM, it will host the Montreal launch of Manif d’art 9 – La Biennale de Québec’s catalogue, in the presence of Claude Bélanger, its general and artistic director, and Michelle Drapeau, assistant curator; this is followed on the Reading Platform by a reading by Chloe Lewis and Andrew Taggart, of excerpts from the third publication of the Museum of Longing and Failure; at 5.30pm, Guillaume B. B. and his collaborators will activate the exhibition space of Vapeurs one last time with the highly energetic performance The Only Way To Know For Sure Is To Test Your Blood Sugar (running time approx. 45 min).

Il ne reste plus que quelques jours pour visiter l’exposition de David Armstrong Six, Night School, dans la Grande salle. Par des superpositions et des amalgames de techniques, empruntant à l’esthétique de la ruine, de la contre-culture et de l’accélération, cette proposition virtuose nous amène à nous interroger sur l’empreinte des générations.

There are only a few days left to visit David Armstrong Six's Night School in the Main Hall. Through superimpositions and amalgams of techniques, borrowing from the aesthetics of the ruin, counterculture, and acceleration, this virtuosic exhibition makes us question the impact of generations.

B. et ses collaborateurs et collaboratrices présentent la performance The Only Way To Know For Sure Is To Test Your Blood Sugar, une série d’actions et de mises en tension sonore, musicale et gestuelle.

Vapeurs invites visitors to take on an introspective experience and an exploration of the psyche, filled with visions and hallucinations, images from the memory as well as from the future. On May 9, Guillaume B. B. and his collaborators present the performance The Only Way To Know For Sure Is To Test Your Blood Sugar, a series of actions and stagings, creating tensions in sound, music and gesture.

Luiza Proença s'intéresse aux pratiques qui repensent la structure du travail culturel et encouragent la participation collective. Elle s'est récemment impliquée dans des projets portant sur la décolonisation et les manières autochtones d'appréhender le monde. Lors de sa résidence, Proença souhaite établir des contacts qui puissent nourrir ces débats encore balbutiants dans son pays. La Résidence des Amériques est soutenue par le Conseil des arts de Montréal.

Luiza Proença is interested in practices that reconsider the structure of cultural work and encourage collective participation. Most recently, she has been involved in projects focused on decolonization and Indigenous ways of understanding the world. During her residence, Proença hopes to make connections that could foster discussions around these topics, which are still in their infancy in her country. The Residency of the Americas is sponsored by the Conseil des arts de Montréal.

By way of various mediums such as installation, performance, drawing, video and writing, Snyder Moreno Martín develops a practice that qualifies as "environmental", embracing entropic transformations and even the potential of material erasure. This residency is made possible thanks to the support of the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec and the Ministry of Culture in Colombia.

ANNOUNCING THE RECIPIENTS OF THE 2019 TRANSATLANTIC RESIDENCIES
 

La Fonderie Darling et ses partenaires la Fondation des Artistes, MoCo Montpellier Contemporain, le Centre Culturel Canadien à Paris et la Ville de Paris sont fiers d’annoncer les noms des trois lauréats de son programme de Résidences Transatlantiques, s’échelonnant de juillet à août 2019. Les artistes français Claude Closky et Marion Lisch sont accueillis en résidence à la Fonderie Darling, tandis que la commissaire canadienne Dominique Fontaine séjourne au Couvent des Récollets à Paris et à La Panacée à Montpellier.

The Darling Foundry and its partners the Fondation des Artistes, MoCo Montpellier Contemporain, the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris and the Ville de Paris, are proud to announce the names of the three recipients of its Transatlantic Residencies program, running from July to August 2019. French artists Claude Closky and Marion Lisch are welcomed in residence at the Darling Foundry, while Canadian curator Dominique Fontaine travels to the Couvent des Récollets in Paris and La Panacée in Montpellier.

À l’occasion de l’exposition Liberté Conquérante / Growing Freedom sur l’œuvre de Yoko Ono à la Fondation Phi, Caroline Andrieux présente Of a Grapefruit, une partie des recherches consacrées à l’artiste dans le cadre de son doctorat. Puisant à même le fonds d’archives Pierre Mercure de Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, des documents inédits en référence à l’une de ses premières performances en 1961 à la Semaine internationale de musique actuelle à Montréal sont mis en valeur.

On the occasion of the exhibition Liberté Conquérante / Growing Freedom on the work of Yoko Ono at the Phi Foundation, Caroline Andrieux presents Of a Grapefruit, featuring some of the research she devoted to the artist as part of her PhD. Drawing on the Pierre Mercure archives at Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, unpublished documents in reference to one of Yoko Ono's first performances, which occurred at the Semaine internationale de musique actuelle à Montréal in 1961 are showcased.

Aujourd'hui, 3010 signataires ont soutenu ce projet dédié aux citoyens, aux arts et à l’écologie. Espérons-le, vous pourrez bientôt profiter de cet espace communautaire et culturel tout au long de l'année. En attendant, venez apprécier la 12e édition de la Place Publique à partir du 13 juin !

A year ago, the Darling Foundry launched a petition to the Ville-Marie borough for a permanent Place Publique in Griffintown. Today, 3010 signatories have supported this project dedicated to citizens, arts and ecology. Hopefully, you will soon enjoy this community and cultural space throughout the year. In the meantime, come and enjoy the 12th edition of Place Publique starting June 13!
