Hello from gorgeous cow country in upstate NY!

Spring has sprung in cow country, and even the lingering tendrils of winter are tapering off. The kitchen table is bedecked with our own daffodils, the crocuses are peeking up everywhere, and we may have lilacs by the end of the month (if we're very lucky).

Baby Daniel started to crawl three months before his brother and sister ever did, and he's already threatening to stand. But he does it with such a winsome smile, that the visions of toddlers falling down stairs are still at bay.

To go with all that wonderful life stuff, a flurry of activity has surrounded my writing projects. Not only did book 4 finally launch, but I've made it into the second round of the Epic Fantasy Fanatics Readers Choice awards, which is a new award hosted by some very nice and successful fantasy authors. Then there's the reason for the cryptic headline of the email. Rome... Palm Springs...Glasgow... they're all cities that host small film festivals.

And each one of these film festivals awarded finalist status for the TV pilot Ryan Jaroncyk and I wrote, inspired by the life of Princess Olga of Kiev! We're calling the show Viking Queen, and it seems to have found some resonance with people. So much so, that Ryan now has an agent, and the agent is actively shopping it! The names Netflix, Amazon Prime, and History Channel may have been mentioned...

So, as you see, things are going well. I'm continuing to dabble in the screenwriting waters with another project... but that a secret for now. It's really exciting, though.

Bi-Weekly Links of Internet Interestingness
Some of these are unexpectedly interesting, especially the first one. I'm going to respond to it in some way in the future, probably in a video review.

New Blog
For those who are interested, I'm exploring some issues surrounding culture and beauty and society (things I talk about here as well) in a more specific way for a Christian audience on a new blog titled A Light so Lovely. Check it out, if you're interested.

Instagram Teaser
After a bit of a fast, I'm back on Instagram. Come by and check out my profile, if you're on the platform. I'm soon going full-on into book 5, so you can expect a lot of images of settings that inspire my writing.

Book Deal!
You may remember that I did an interview with fantasy author J.A. Andrews a while back. Well, she's completed her series, and she has a 0.99 sale on her complete ebook box set that I'm happy to offer you. Here's the full blurb:

It will take the Keepers of legend to save Queensland. Too bad all they’ve got is a man haunted by his past, a failed mage, and an untrained girl.

Mallon the Undying’s reign of terror ended eight years ago when he entered the elven wood and never returned. The country of Queensland has shakily returned to normal, and the Keepers who helped defend her have returned to their own pursuits as historians, storytellers, and studiers of magic.

But Mallon’s moniker was truer than anyone knew. His followers still work to keep his ruthless ideas alive by abducting powerful children, sowing discord among the people, and nibbling away at Queensland’s borders.

Unfortunately, the Keepers left between Queensland and destruction are:
-Alaric, who betrayed everything he believed to save his wife — and still failed.
-Will, a storyteller who’s convinced his weak magic makes him useless.
-And Sini, a former slave girl with unimagined power but no way to wield it.

With the help of unsettling elves, gruff dwarves, sentient stones, and magical swords, Alaric, Will, and Sini will have to find a way to overcome their own weaknesses and face the growing shadows.

Can the Keepers survive being hunted by dragons, attacked by frost goblins, and deceived by wizards?

Or will Mallon’s forces of destruction overwhelm them and the land they love?

The complete trilogy of The Keepers Chronicles includes:

A Threat of Shadows
Pursuit of Shadows
Siege of Shadows
