How to Heal
Take a walk in the forest, and feel your feet touch the earth with each step. Smell the air and the essence of the natural flora around you.  Breathe deeply and taste the air in your mouth, feel it in your lungs and exhale the warm air from your body.  Look deeply into the forest - layers deep.  Do not be surprised if tears come down your face.  That is the point.  To heal.

Dear Friends of Camp Earth Connection,
I hope you have a chance to visit  Hammond Hill this season or another forest in your neighborhood.  Let's all remember to breathe deeply and find gratitude on this beautiful planet and remember to keep it this way for our grandchildren's grandchildren.
With Peace and Gratitude,
Eshay (Susan)

A TIny Wooden House
(Available this Spring)

This tiny little wooden cabin on wheels arrived at Camp Earth Connection last Fall. We have just installed a water spigot which provides water to the kitchen sink and stall shower.  The bathroom has a compost toilet (complete with fan & easy crank for turning after using it.)  The kitchen includes an electric stove top, microwave, mini-fridge, french press coffee maker, hot water kettle and table and cookware.  Available primarily through Airbnb, it includes full linens.  There is a full size bed in the loft.  You must climb a short ladder to get into the loft.  Currently working on a back yard with privacy bamboo fencing.  Located on top of Hammond Hill with an amazing view. WiFi too.  Reservations now being accepted.
Red Squirrel Housekeeping
by Linda Spielman

The snow is gone and leaves have not yet filled in the forest canopy, so it’s a great time to look at red squirrel middens. Conifer seeds make up a large percentage of the red squirrel diet, and the animals spend lots of time eating or collecting conifer cones. To get at the seeds a squirrel holds a cone in both front feet and, starting at the bottom, chews off each scale and eats the exposed seeds, spinning the cone as it works its way toward the tip.
