Celebrate Spring in Full Swing!

MAY UPDATE

Our largest fundraiser of the year is right around the corner, and we need your help to succeed! Our annual Spring Golf Classic will take place THIS Friday, May 17th at the Hillandale Golf Course. Support our mission while you play golf with your team, eat a catered lunch, and win raffle prizes! All funds raised will help us provide tools and opportunities to prevent litter, reduce waste, and increase green space in Durham communities.

There's still plenty of room for players and teams! Registration is $80 per player and includes breakfast, a hot lunch, and gift bags, with the chance to win even more amazing prizes on the green and in our lunch raffle. Thank you to all the local businesses that have registered to play thus far, including Balfour Beatty, Grub, Gateway Building Company, Metrofire, Capital Electric, Durham Convention Center, Gateway, Carolina Sunrock, 501 Realty, Durham Bulls, Cisco, Associated Scaffolding, and Storr Office Environments.

We also still have several sponsorship packages available - thank you to our Breakfast Sponsor Carolina Theater, Lunch Sponsor Balfour Beatty, Snack Cart Sponsor Kimley-Horn, Gold Sponsors Grub & Carolina Sunrock, and Platinum Sponsor Gateway!  Consider donating a prize or sponsoring a hole by emailing tania@keepdurhambeautiful.org.

Dust off your green thumb - come garden with us!

We are in the final stages of building our pollinator garden at Bull City Cool, and we need all the help we can get! If you like to get your hands dirty, meet new people, and be involved in bettering your community, we'd love to have you!
  • KDB + Bull City Cool Pollinator Garden Installation: May 18th from 9am to 1pm at 902 North Mangum Street. We will be placing retainer blocks in the garden beds, filling the beds with soil and compost, and finally PLANTING! :)
Tools and instruction will be provided. Please dress for the weather and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and sturdy shoes that can handle mud. Bring a reusable water bottle!

It's official - Durham is once again a registered Bee City USA!

We’re excited to announce that, together with our community partners, we’ve completed all the rigorous requirements for Bee City USA renewal for 2019! We can’t wait to continue to inspire our community and region to take care of the pollinators that play a vital role in sustaining our planet.

Volunteer Spotlight

This year we were honored to once again be part of EarthShare NC's Corporate Earth Day Challenge! On Friday April 12th, volunteers from PRA Health Sciences braved the rain and muck to help spread mulch at Sandy Creek Park. Mulching is important because it provides nutrients to plants and soil, keeps the soil moist, and reduces erosion and weeds! See photos from the event here. We also had A LOT of help from Harris Beverages and Great Outdoors Provision Co. building and mulching the garden beds at our new pollinator garden at Bull City Cool! We also have some great photos from this event on our Flickr page. A huge thank you to all the volunteers that helped make this possible!
