Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site to Host Summer Events

FORT ABERCROMBIE, N.D. - Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site will open May 25 with summer hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Labor Day, Sept. 2.
 
On opening day, visitors can experience historic military training drills from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by the 5th Minnesota Infantry Company D reenactment unit. The 5th Minnesota Infantry Company D portrays the life and times of soldiers serving at the fort during the battles and siege of Fort Abercrombie in 1862. The public is welcome to participate in the drills to learn about life at the fort from 1858 to 1877. The gallery, bookstore, and gift shop will be open. Educational guided tours of the site will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 
Additional events planned for the summer include Living History Weekend and a Sunday History Program.
 
Fort Abercrombie is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Admission is $8 adults and $3 youth. Guided tours are available daily.
