Drones at Green-Wood Cemetery
In a new initiative with Green-Wood Cemetery, Cornell University, and a group of turfgrass experts from across the United States, Blue Raster is using drones to help advance the science for confronting climate change in an urban landscape.

Along with the Community Coast College District and LearningCurved, Project Manager Megan Gottfried presented a hands-on workshop exploring the use of geographic maps as a tool to transform career exploration. This workshop highlighted the TalentED Story Map, a tool for students to visualize regional workforce needs and available educational opportunities. 
BR 17 year celebration photos
This April marks the 17th anniversary of Blue Raster. In connection with this milestone and Earth Day, we celebrated by volunteering at the Anacostia Watershed Society's Earth Day Cleanup event. We also had cake! We are grateful for our clients and partners for continued business and support throughout the years. 
New employee photos
We're growing! We expanded our office space and welcomed three new developers to the team this month. Will Nixon is a graduate from the Thinkful coding bootcamp and recently relocated from California. He moved to D.C. just in time for the cherry blossoms! Eden Mesfun comes to us from HWC Inc, where she worked as a Web Developer after graduating from Flatiron School. Prior to that, Eden earned her master's degree in International Political Economy at Brussels School of International Studies. Vaidotas Piekus joins us after working at the Navy Federal Credit Union as a Process Improvement Analyst. He brings over 3 years of project management and business analysis experience to our development team. We are excited to welcome them to the team!
AAG Conference photos
GIS Analyst Daniel Cassiday and Application Developer Xhafer Rama joined other GIS specialists, environmental scientists, and leaders at the AAG Annual Meeting in D.C. to discuss the latest in advancing geography, sustainability, and GIScience. In addition to giving presentations, Xhafer and Danny represented Blue Raster at the Friday night reception celebrating the retirement of Executive Director, Doug Richardson.

Stephen Ansari, Michael Lippmann, and Phillip Satlof are in Geneva this week at the GIS for a Sustainable World Conference. As a proud a sponsor of this Esri and UNOSAT event, we're excited to share our work in the important fields of Conservation, Sustainability, Health, & Education. During the Sustainable Business panel session, Michael Lippmann presented on the World Business Council for Sustainable Development's India Water Tool. Stay tuned for more from this conference!
