School News

8th Grade Exhibition Night

8th grade Ravens and families, tomorrow night (Thu, May 9, 7–8:15 pm) is 8th Grade Exhibition Night! This will be a time for your students to share their work and learning, and for you to hear from 8th grade students and staff. Refreshments provided.

New Student Night

Incoming 6th graders are invited to a new student and family welcome night on Thu, Jun 6, 7–8:15 pm. Join us for student-led school tours, performances, and a welcome from school staff and community partners.

Can't make it on the official night? There will be an additional opportunity to connect with RESMS on Tue, Jun 11 (tentative), 6:15–7 pm. You are welcome to stay for our end-of-year orchestra concert starting at 7 pm. (Note: Parking will be very limited due to the concert. Consider parking at Cascadia).

Registration for Rising Ingraham 9th Graders

Please take some time now to register for your fall 2019 classes via the Source. Then submit your paper copy with signatures.

Clothing Needed

The school nurse needs sweat pants, leggings, and t-shirts in all sizes K–8th grade. Drop clothing at the main office.

Talent Show

Auditions/Practices:

We are looking for awesome talent, emcees, and sound and lighting help. See Ms. Rubio or Ms. Sullivan with questions.
Performances will be Fri, Jun 14 in the afternoon (2 shows).

PTSA News

Volunteer Appreciation Night & General PTSA Meeting

Save the date! You are invited to celebrate our wonderful volunteers and vote on our new PTSA board and budget on Thu, May 30, 7 pm in the commons. Refreshments will be provided.

Staff Appreciation Week

Thanks to all our wonderful staff for keeping our school running smoothly! Thanks to everyone who signed up to bring treats on Tuesday morning and soups and stews on Thursday.

Bike to school day is today! Bike to school continues through the month of May. Check out these resources for biking to school:
 

RESMS Mariners Night

Join other RESMS friends, faculty, and families at Mariners' Night on Fri, May 31, 7:10 pm. Mariners are playing the LA Angels. It's also Star Wars fireworks night! Tickets are a deal at only $14 per person, payable by check or PayPal. Scholarships available. Order online or download the order form (hard copies also available in the front office). Payments are due this Fri, May 10.

PTSA Needs You

Do you want to get more involved and make a real impact at our school? Become a PTSA board member for 2019–2020! We have openings for several director-level roles:

  • Newsletter editor-in-training
We have an amazing community at Eagle Staff MS, but we rely on volunteers like you to ensure that our staff and students receive the support they so that every Raven has the opportunity to reach their full potential. In addition to the board member positions, we will have a variety of other volunteer opportunities available. Sports

Ultimate Frisbee Playoffs

Ultimate playoffs are this weekend at Magnuson Park, field 6. Come out and cheer JV at 12:30 pm (and again at 2:15 pm if we win), 6 Red at 2:15 and again at 4 pm if we win), and 6 Black (5:45 pm). Bring your popsicles and sunscreen. Go Ravens!

Track Finals

Metro track finals are this Sat, May 11 at Chief Sealth stadium, starting at 10:30 am. Come and cheer your Ravens finalists!

Music

Incoming 9th Grade Music Meeting at Ballard HS

Ballard High School is hosting an Incoming 9th grade music meeting for all students who will be involved with the BHS music department next year. Tue, Jun 25 at 7 pm in the Ballard HS performing arts center. Come meet the teachers, learn about the program, hear from current students, and meet other 8th graders who will be in the program next fall! We will also be talking about next year’s calendar of events and answering your questions.

SPS Summer Music Program

The Summer Music Program is a way for students to continue their music learning during the summer months. The program is designed for students entering grades 5–9 (fourth grade completed). Students must have completed at least one year of instrumental instruction. Teachers are certificated public school music teachers. All sheet music is provided by the program. See the SPS website for more information.

Seattle All-City Band

Established in 1951 by the Seattle Public Schools, the All-City Band has a reputation for excellence in music education, student leadership, and entertainment. The band brings together students from schools throughout the greater Seattle area to entertain in upwards of 20 parades and community celebrations each summer. Register online for All-City Band.

The Lincoln High School opening is just around the corner. Don’t miss this opportunity to support a great start for our new school! Help set the spirit of generosity by donating today! Ballard High School Spring Play

The Ballard Playmakers Spring play consists of 2 one-act plays themed on gun violence. Take this opportunity to attend and use as a conversation starter on this emotional subject matter. The production gives views from multiple perspectives. Bang Bang You're Dead is from the students point of view while Eric LaRue is from a parent's view.

Performances May 9–11 and 16–18. All performances start at 7:30 pm at BHS. Tickets available online. Parent Advisory due to the subject matter.

Roosevelt HS Football

All paperwork for fall 2019 football is now on-line. Please return completed paperwork and fees (make checks ou to Roosevelt High School) to Mrs. Downing in the main office at Roosevelt HS. Be sure to check the preseason schedule for important upcoming dates.

Roosevelt HS Boys Basketball Camp

Join head coach Ben Scheffler and the RHS boys Varsity and JV basketball teams Jul 15–18, 9 am–3 pm! Grades 4–9. All skill levels welcome. Register online. Questions? Email riderhoops@outlook.com.

Free Audio Books for Teens

Teens (and parents) can download up to 28 free audio books this summer (2 each week, Apr 25–Aug 1). Once the audio books are downloaded via the free OverDrive App, they are yours to keep. Selections cross multiple genres and contain both fiction and non-fiction. Great for summer road trips and down time! You can sign up online and opt to receive a text or email notification each week as new titles are released.

Raider Boys & Girls Soccer Camp

Jul 8–12 at Jane Addams MS:
  • Elementary school age: 9 am–12 pm
  • Middle School age: 1–4 pm
Cost is $100.00 per player and includes a t-shirt and soccer ball and coaching by Nathan Hale Soccer Team & Coach(es). For questions and registration link, contact mypromotions@comcast.net.

Kids with an Edge Camps and Tutoring

Use this summer to fill in the gaps, prevent the summer slide, or to take a look ahead and start the fall with confidence! Our classes are very effective and highly interactive. We keep students actively engaged and make sure they have the correct thought processes and approach. Our classes are designed to build confidence while enjoying the journey!
