Official communication from Bowls NSW
Dear Clubs,

Please see below a few initiatives that Bowls NSW wanted to on-forward to you for your club to participate in. Below outlines all the information on these initiatives together with resources, posters and social media posts for your individual club to use.

We feel some of these initiatives are great and they present an opportunity for your club to take part and promote it to your local community.
Shoosh for Kids awareness week

The Office of Sport is working with grassroots sports this winter season on their Shoosh for Kids initiative, reminding spectators that the focus of junior sport is on fun and having a go, not winning.
We’d like to invite your club to be a part of the campaign and promote its importance in your local area.

Bowls NSW and Women’s Bowls NSW have worked together with the Office of Sports to produce the attached posters to display in your club, also attached is a document with social media posts you may like to include on your social pages together with suggested text.

Shoosh for Kids awareness week will take place 20 – 26 May and we ask that you sign up to show your support now, use the free online and printed resources available and chat to your members about your participation in the initiative. We understand you may not have any Juniors activities occurring during this time, therefore if you can keep the posters up during the whole month or when you have Juniors activities on it would be great.

The purpose of Shoosh for Kids is to:
  • Promote positive behaviour at junior sport
  • Address issues which arise from poor behaviour at junior sport, including: abuse to officials and players, reduced volunteer numbers and reduced participation rates (due to poor experiences/non-enjoyment/focus on winning)

What do I need to do right now?
PARMA for A FARMER

This represents an opportunity for your club to participate in this fund-raising efforts for the Farmers. Clubs can chose if you wish to participate and for how long. Generally speaking you may have a special week or month where every Parma sold gives $1 to farmers. You can also outline that you want this money to go to Farmers in NSW.

Rural Aid arranges and assists you through this process by providing promotional material including posters/ special media posts/ banners etc. For more information please see the below links.
