Dear FirePony Community,
We've had our fair share of adventures together. Since I joined the board in August of 2012, ten years after attending my first PDF, I've witnessed our community create magic over and over again. We've also faced a lot of challenges that I can only hope have made us stronger and more confident in what we can create when we come together to do so.
As I wrap up my term and hand over the reins to Ursula (she's so great, isn't she??), I want to express a deep thanks to all of you for the lessons you've taught me over the years, the laughter we've shared, and your boundless energy to do the hard work. It's all been so much more rewarding than I ever thought it would be.
To my fellow board members, past and present, I know that your commitment to this organization and community is unwavering, and I am so thankful that I had you all to stand with against the arrows. You are truly amazing and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Which brings me to my big announcement!
After years in the making, I am absolutely thrilled to announce the launch of FirePony Creative Society’s Community Art and Civic Engagement Program.
This program builds on the vision and mission of FirePony, and seeks to help attract, inspire, and nurture a diverse community in order to celebrate and encourage year-round experiments in the creation of art, a culture of play, and the collective sharing of ideas and skills.
This will be a multi-pronged effort, including training, programming, and a bi-annual grant program.
Grant applications are NOW OPEN! The deadline for our first round of grants is Friday, May 31st. Read more about CACE and the grant program here.
We’re actively recruiting motivated, reliable, creative and professional folks to join our year-round volunteer team. Whether you have two hours a month or two hours a day to give, we have ways for you to get involved.
Specifically, we’re looking for program admins, communication volunteers, fundraising gurus, project review and grant allocation team members, programing and training team members, and partnership development leads. Contact us to learn more.
Burn bright, all!
