The Great Denver Cleanup
Do you have a mattress, box spring, or old couch you need to get rid of? What about a bunch of lawn debris from your spring landscaping project? Maybe last year's kiddie pool or an old plastic lawn chair? You're in luck! The Great Denver Cleanup is coming Saturday, May 18, and you can safely and legally dispose of all those things, plus much more! Bring your items between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm to any of the four drop sites listed on the banner above. You still can't toss your electronics, batteries, light bulbs, building or house demolition materials, or household hazardous materials such as paint into this collection--you'll have to contact 311 for that. But you can get rid of so many bulk items, without waiting for bulk collection day. You can read the full list of items eligible and not eligible here.

The Denver Hospice in Lowry
The Denver Hospice is "the leading, largest and most trusted not-for-profit provider of life-enhancing hospice and palliative care," and now they're growing. The facility just broke ground on the new 24,000 square foot Amy Davis Support Center here on the Lowry Campus.
“In 2011, we cemented our place in the Denver medical community by opening The Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center in the Lowry neighborhood. This 24-bed facility was generously supported by the community and serves all those in need, regardless of their ability to pay,” says Brad Baumgartner, chair, The Denver Hospice Board of Directors. “As we look to the future, we are excited to take the next step in our evolution. We are grateful this project is also being generously supported by individual donors, businesses, foundations and other caring individuals.”
“The creation of a cohesive campus will add to the presence of The Denver Hospice in the neighborhood and greatly benefit their overall operations,” says Kasia Bulkowski, project manager for MOA, the project's architect. “We are particularly proud of our design work for the Footprints children’s care program, which provides spaces that serve bereavement therapy needs, including art-making, music and outdoor activities.” The Center is expected to be completed by summer 2020.
