Green Partner Series: era building solutions - meeting multiple bottom lines through energy savings

Welcome to our Green Partners series, highlighting our partners in the community that help make MC Green Bank a success.

We spoke with Mike Cain, Managing Director at era building solutions, a Bethesda-based company, to learn about its latest successes and why they are proud to partner with the Montgomery County Green Bank.

“The top reasons that our clients tell us they are making “green” decisions are for operational reliability (replacing aging or failing infrastructure), financial sustainability (“the double-green”), and corporate and environmental stewardship. The beauty of taking a holistic approach to commercial property improvement is that good business and well-planned energy strategy tend to go hand-in-hand.”

Earth Month Around the Community

Montgomery County Green Bank staff, Tom Deyo, Rosemarie Sabatino, and Joshua Myers were busy this Earth Month.  We enjoyed interacting with many of you at these events. Here’s a quick recap of what we heard and learned!

On April 3, we attended the annual Montgomery County Energy SummitCounty Executive Marc Elrich informed us all that the County is maintaining vigilance on the path to net zero, and ARC Skoru Vice President Chris Pyke highlighted why focusing on high-performing buildings benefits the environment and our health.

•    At an April 17 gathering hosted by Montgomery Housing Partnership, the Montgomery County Green Bank, along with Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and Pepco’s Energy Savings Program, discussed energy efficiency with owners of small, multifamily rental properties.

•    On April 28, we connected with many county residents at GreenFest.

•    On April 29 Tom spoke on a panel focused on local clean energy policy and financing at the Women’s Bar Association of DC and promoted CLEER and collaborating as a region.

In May and June, we’ll be hosting trainings for common ownership community Board members and for representatives of faith-based communities.
