SEMCOG and MAC "Pulse of the Region" survey asks for citizen perspectives on bicycle and pedestrian travel in Southeast Michigan

SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, and its partner organization, the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition (MAC), have launched a survey to better understand people's preferences in walking and biking in Southeast Michigan, as well as the opportunities and challenges in current availability and quality of walking and biking infrastructure and amenities.

Citizens are asked to take this survey. Input received will help SEMCOG develop its regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan for Southeast Michigan, as well as coordinate and develop strategies for local mobility issues. Gaps and areas where people cannot walk or bike will be reported back to local communities for input into their planning efforts.

“Bicycle and pedestrian travel is a vital component of our region's transportation system, as well as a driver for enhancing quality of life and economic development, ” said Kathleen Lomako, SEMCOG Executive Director and MAC President. “To respond to this opportunity, it is necessary to hear from residents who use the region's walking and biking system.”
