Happy Spring! Particularly on my mind this week is our relationship with technology and the role that technology plays in the lives of the youngest among us - our children and teens. The story isn't simple and my mission is to wrestle with the tough questions we face so that we can find real solutions. I take part in a broader conversation about these issues in an upcoming Diane Sawyer special report on America's relationship with technology airing this Friday. Research from my lab, in collaboration with Dr. Sarah Myruski and colleagues Koraly Perez-Edgar and Kristin Buss at The Pennsylvania State University, is also featured. I hope it helps spark even greater and more informed conversation about where to go from here and how to support youth mental health.

Warmly,

—Dr. Tracy Dennis-Tiwary

Do you ever wonder about your adolescent's experiences of anxiety and worry?

We do! Help us learn about how anxiety and attention work together in the adolescent brain.

We are seeking 12-to 14-year old youth to participate in a research study.

During the first visit, you and your child will complete questionnaires about your child's emotions. In addition, your child will complete computerized tasks while non-invasive electroencephalography (EEG) is recorded. During the second visit, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be used to track your child's brain activity.

You and your child will receive compensation of $100 for each visit, for a total of $200. Parents will be provided with free clinical feedback.

Team Human is a manifesto―a fiery distillation of preeminent digital theorist Douglas Rushkoff’s most urgent thoughts on civilization and human nature.
