Get ready for upcoming graduation festivities with a quick read:

MJ-school Commencement

• Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. in Carmichael Arena
• Keynote speaker: Jacqueline Charles '94 (Read more)
• Ceremony: All graduating students should arrive at WOOLLEN GYMNASIUM (adjacent to Carmichael Arena) no later than 2:35 p.m.
  • Enter Woollen from South Road and go downstairs from the lobby to the basketball courts to check in and line up alphabetically. MJ-school faculty and staff will be present to direct students accordingly.
  • The ceremony generally lasts about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
  • After the ceremony, guests should exit promptly through the side doors in the front lobby to meet the graduates outside.

UNC Commencement

• Sunday, May 12, 2019, at 9 a.m. in Kenan Memorial Stadium
• Keynote speaker: Jonathan T.M. Reckford (Read more)
• Ceremony: All graduating students should line up no later than 8:30 a.m.
  • Masters/Ph.D.’s candidates should report to the Charlie Choo Choo Justice Statue in front of the Kenan Football Center. Undergraduates should report to the Loudermilk Lot via the outside of the stadium.
  • The processional will start at 9 a.m. promptly. If the ceremony is postponed because of weather, candidates will line up 30 minutes before the ceremony start time.
  • After the ceremony, all graduates will exit up through the stadium stands. (You will not exit the same way you entered.)

Upcoming graduation applications

All students must apply for graduation through their ConnectCarolina account. If you do not see the “Apply for Graduation” link, you are not currently eligible to apply. If you believe this is in error, contact MJ Academic Advising.

• August 2019 graduates: Apply between March 18 - July 25, 2019
• December 2019 graduates: Apply between April 2 - Sept. 3, 2019

Submit your MJ-school degree audit request form by the appropriate deadline to allow time to complete an audit of curriculum progress and to confirm outstanding requirements in time for students to make any necessary schedule adjustments.

• December 2019 graduates: Apply by March 15, 2019 < YOU'RE LATE!
• May / August 2020 graduates: Apply by Oct. 15, 2019
