SOPHIA PRESS RELEASES
COOKING WITH THE SAINTS

NEW BOOK CELEBRATES LOVE OF FOOD, POPULAR
SAINTS and FEASTS OF THE CHURCH

BOSTON, MA – Want to dine with Saints Philomena, John the Baptist, The Little Flower, Agnes, Joan of Arc, Patrick, Teresa of Avila, Ephrem the Syrian or Our Lady of Guadalupe?

Catholics around the world will need to pull up a chair at their family table to make room for a saintly guest. Co-Authors Alexandra Greeley and Fernando Flores team up to nourish body and soul with Cooking with the Saints, a new book published by Sophia Institute Press that invites the Church’s heavenly helpers – the Catholic saints – to daily meals.

In stores now, this is the first Catholic cookbook devotional of its kind that takes the reader through the lives and cuisines of the saints. From a native American meal with Saint Kateri Tekakwitha to a heavenly rose petal torte in honor of the Little Flower or a spicy chicken curry meal from the countries where Saint Francis Xavier lived out his mission, Cooking with the Saints daily recipes create a sensory experience that inspire a greater love for the saints and develop heritage in Catholic homes, the domestic church.

“This book underscores what the saints teach us: persistence in faith and understanding that God directs us on life’s pathways. It is our prayer that this book will invite you to bring a spiritual dimension to your meals,” said co-authors Alexandra Greely and Fernando Flores. “May the reader experience nourishment of both soul and body as each brings the Catholic heritage to the family table!”

Adding a human dimension to the saints we know and love, as well as some more obscure saints, Cooking with the Saints includes a Saint-of-the-day to dine with that includes information about the life of the saint, beautiful imagery of the saints and delicacies, delicious and exotic recipes, shopping lists and devotional prayers.

“The Catholic Faith has feasts and fasts…. Cooking with the Saints helps us to live out the feasting part by connecting us with centuries of rich Catholic tradition,” said Lino Rulli, “The Catholic Guy” on Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
