This guy loves turnips!

And more fresh air in open spaces doesn't kill youngsters either! The season is trucking along here at Glade Road Growing and we have some key deadlines coming up for Farm Share registration (starts next week) and some new on-farm kids programs that are running this year! Read on to make yourself privy to upcoming opportunities that combine both food and fun. Spring is a good time to be alive in Blacksburg, Virginia!

All the veggies in our farm share are certified naturally grown by us right here in Blacksburg. Each week we select a delicious balance of salad veggies, cooking veggies, colorful chunky veggies, and fresh herbs. Small shares are typically suitable for 1-2 adults with larger shares accommodating for families that love fresh veggies.

This season we're planning on filling the bags with love and a seasonal variety of:
Tomatoes, lettuce, onions, peppers, cilantro, summer squash, garlic, carrots, cucumbers, basil, kale, spinach, eggplant, winter squash, beets, broccoli, dill, green onions, cabbage, Asian greens, collards, salad turnips, kohlrabi, parsley, potatoes, salad radishes, sweet potatoes, chard, arugula, beans, cauliflower, celery, fennel, leeks, celeriac, watermelon radish, perennial herbs, parsnips, peas, hot peppers, rutabagas, garlic scapes, and roasting turnips.

Each week of the share you'll also get a recipe and tips on how to enjoy your bounty.

Our main season bag share runs May 7- Oct 29 (the full 6 months) with Tuesday on-farm pick up and delivery to Vintage Cellar, Rainbow Riders, Moog and Mine, Me and US Montessori School.

Out of town a lot? Like to pick out your own veggies? Consider our farm debit card  which still helps us out up front and allows you to get what you want at your pace throughout the season.

If you have already joined our share then you will get a welcome email Monday preceding the first pick up. If you have ordered a debit card, then you can pick it up during our open farm stand hours.

Planting leeks and more spring veggies!

There is not a more romantic way to spend your hard-earned free time than gardening with JP. You owe it to yourself at least once. And if you feel like it's not actually that great, at least there is homemade lunch at the end of the tunnel.

We'll meet at 9 am and work til around noon. If you are coming late, just ask for our location around the farm at the farm market we'll have going on up top at the same time. Deliciously free lunch provided by Tabula Rasa on Glade to follow.

Please RSVP here if you plan on attending so we can prepare enough food and projects. Thank you in advance for your hard work and smiling face!
