New website: UN Member States on the Record - now live in all six official languages
The new UN Member States on the Record website now makes it even easier to find primary source materials related to each Member State’s contribution to the activities and deliberations of the UN. This vital UN information resource has been completely revamped and given a streamlined look and feel. Powered by the UN Digital Library and Ask DAG, the Library’s knowledge base of frequently asked questions, the new site provides enhanced access to information about Member States’ participation in the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, and the Human Rights Council.
For each Member State, the website features the following information:
- Date of membership with links to associated documents
- Membership of the Security Council, Economic & Social Council, Human Rights Council
- Links to General Debate statements
- All speeches in principal organs
-Co-sponsorship of draft resolutions
- Notes verbales announcing diplomatic relations between states
Fifth Pacific Urban Forum, Nadi, Fiji, 1-3 July 2019
Fifth Pacific Urban Forum (PUF). The PUF is sub-regional multi-stakeholder platform for policy dialogue and exchange on sustainable urban development in the Pacific, which last convened in 2015 when it adopted a Pacific New Urban Agenda. The event this year is co-organized by UN-Habitat, Monash University, UN ESCAP, Commonwealth Local Government Forum, Pacific Island Forum States and Compass Housing Services, and hosted by the Government of Fiji. The main aim is to review the Pacific New Urban Agenda with governments and key stakeholders, accelerate its implementation in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the region.

An exciting opportunity has opened up at the United Nations in Papua New Guinea for mid-career, Communications professionals, citizens of Papua New Guinea. The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office is hiring a Development Coordination Officer, Programme Communications and Advocacy in Port Moresby.
Invitation for NGOs to apply for ECOSOC Consultative Status
The NGO Branch of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs is inviting all interested NGOs that are willing to work in close collaboration with ECOSOC, to apply for consultative status. 1 June 2019 is the deadline to receive applications that will be reviewed during the following year.
NGOs that are accredited with ECOSOC can participate in a number of events, including, but not limited to regular sessions of ECOSOC, its functional commissions and its other subsidiary bodies. NGOs may:
• Attend official meetings;
• Submit written statements prior to sessions;
• Make oral statements;
• Meet official government delegations and other NGO representatives; and
• Organize and attend parallel events that take place during the session.
Please also note there will be a Webinar on 3 May 2019, 11:00am – 12:30pm. This is a good opportunity for new applicants to ask questions about the application process. Space is limited.
