At the time of writing this update, I (Ben) am having a little bout with a head cold or something. So I decided to forego the regular video update to save you from listening to my nasal voice. Our son also picked up the flu mid-April and continues to sound a bit under the weather. But rest assured that we all are doing very well overall—even during a busier month!

Thank you for praying for us last month of April. God has answered your prayers on our behalf, and we are being encouraged by His Spirit daily. This past month, in particular, we can attest that we have felt your prayers for us. Although all believers may enter seasons when they cannot feel anything at all or visibly see the hand of God at work in their circumstances, we can be assured that God is working in us to do of His good pleasure (Phil. 2:13). There is a peace and great comfort in knowing this truth.

When we can feel God near us, we can trust He will never leave us (Heb. 13:5). We are His workmanship (Eph. 2:10). We live by faith, not by feeling, not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7). We rest in the almighty hands of our Redeemer and, by His Spirit (Zech. 4:6; Rom. 8:11), He invigorates our lives (Rom. 4:17; Eph. 2:5) through His Word (Ps. 119:25; Jn. 6:63) to live for His glory (Rev. 4:11).

Not only has God been pleased to answer your prayers in our personal lives, but He has also responded to your prayers for increased mission support. Many of you have personally written to us saying that you have been praying for God to provide and—to our delight and His glory—He continues to provide. We praise God alone for His mercy on our ministry, and for the many supporters in the gospel He has given to us. As a result, we now have reached 70% of our needed monthly support level. The 100% goal is coming in sight, and we are thrilled to see God enabling us to raise mission dollars for the work He has called us to do.

However, with $2,250 more mission dollars to raise, our work of fundraising is not finished yet. Nonetheless, our timeline remains the same as before, and we anticipate returning to Taiwan by 2020. Our joy is full as we were given the opportunity to present our mission every Sunday (save one) this month.

We continue to schedule new meetings and make new connections with possible future supporters out here on the West Coast. Given the remaining eight months of the year, we are confident that more support will come in for our Taiwan mission as we continue to work hard. We are extremely grateful for God's calling into missions. We press on joyfully by faith!

Pray for a swift recovery from sickness.
Pray for our upcoming meetings: the strength to preach and present, favor with possible new supporters, provision according to God's timing.
Pray for ministry connections: emails to be opened, phone calls to be returned, mailings to be well-received, new meetings to be scheduled.
Pray for Ben's (online) seminary studies: finishing Greek final exams, beginning a new semester.
Pray for the mainland Chinese churches amidst increased persecution.
