Last Queer & Questioning Sex Ed of the Semester!
TODAY, May 6th, 4-5pm
LGBT Equity Center, 2218 Marie Mount Hall

The last Queer & Questioning Sex Ed of the semester is today! Queer & Questioning Sex Ed 101 is anopportunity for all students to receive LGBTQ+ affirming, accurate information about sex and sexuality. All gender identities and sexual orientations are welcome in this space.

Queer & Questioning Sex Ed 101 is facilitated by Indigo, a local sex educator and sex toy reviewer who works to dispel myths about sex and sexuality. They will cover concepts that aren't covered by modern sex education, entirely based on (anonymous) questions brought in by you and other students! If there is anything you've ever wanted to ask in a safe space, but didn't know how, come ask it now!
Consider enrolling in Speaker's Bureau!
 
Become a peer educator on LGBTQIA+ student life at UMD! The course is open to all, but you must first speak with staff in the LGBT Equity Center to gain permission to enroll. This appointment is meant to inform you on the requirements of the course and to assess if you are a good fit to be a peer educator. Generally, LGBT 200 is a prerequisite, but if your current level of knowledge is sufficient, you will be given permission to enroll.

To request an appointment, send an email to lgbt@umd.edu with "Speakers Bureau" in the subject line. Please provide your name, pronouns, year, preferred e-mail address, and 3 different times you are available to meet during regular business hours (9am - 4pm).

You are cordially invited to the 2019 Lavender Graduation ceremony! Lavender Graduation recognizes an important milestone in the lives of our LGBTQIA+ graduates and serves as a celebration of our vibrant and resilient community on campus.

We encourage all graduates and guests to bring family, friends, and other significant individuals in their lives from both on and off campus. Of course, all faculty and staff are invited!

Register to attend Somewhere Over the Rainbow (SOTR), a conference on sexual Orientation and gender identity in international education.  2019's conference theme is LGBTQ+ Borderlands: Migration, Race, and Refuge.  UMD staff, faculty, and students should especially make sure to contact the conference organizers at sotr@umd.edu to secure the UMD registration rate! For more information on this year's schedule and theme, head to the conference website sotr.org.
Tagg Scholarship Fund
Award: $2,500-$5,000

The Tagg Scholarship Fund was established in 2017. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to young queer women of color who plan on attending a college or university. With a focus on students who demonstrate community involvement, advocacy, academic achievement, financial need, and express an interest in leadership. Two individuals will be awarded $2500 - $5000 based upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria. Awards will be given by June 30, 2019.

Education Abroad invites you to attend "Unpacking Before You Pack: Exploring Identity Intersections in Study Abroad"

Join your fellow UMD students, study abroad alumni and international students for an ice cream discussion on how social identities influence international experiences. Guest speakers and a Diverse Terps Abroad Alumni Panel will share their personal experiences and provide insights on how we can better support our diverse UMD community on campus and abroad. You do not need to have studied abroad, all are welcome!

CARE to Stop Violence Wants to Hear From You!

The CARE to Stop Violence office is conducting a survey to gather student feedback on how we can meet the campus community’s interests and learning needs through our education and outreach programming on power-based violence (sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and relationship violence). The survey is intended for undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students.  Please share with any students that may be interested. Please click here to access the 10 minute survey.
