Calling all friends of the Lettered Streets! Due to various changes over the last several years to the stewardship agreement, volunteer requirements, city involvement and financial status, the grounds at our beloved Gossage Garden are in need of a major clean-up. The current state is so poor that the Parks & Recreation Department would like to take over what is left of the garden beds and convert them to low-maintenance basics and/or sod. Fortunately, they have offered us a chance to save our memorial garden and prove we can rehabilitate and maintain this unique and treasured pocket park for our neighbors to enjoy indefinitely.

Does Gossage Garden hold a special place in your memories? Does the thought of a tiny English garden wonderland hiding inside what was previously a barren traffic triangle make you smile? Do you just find it satisfying to pull weeds and trade stories with your neighbors? Come share in the revitalization of Gossage Garden, beginning Saturday, May 4th, when we will weed and clean up the garden beds. We will also have sign up sheets and idea boards for you to share your vision for the garden, as well as light refreshments. Gossage Garden's 20+ year founding steward will be on hand to offer guidance and to generously regale us with stories of the pocket park and neighborhood history.

All volunteers should be prepared to sign a waiver and record time spent. Some tools and gloves will be provided by the Parks & Rec Department, but you are also encouraged to bring (and label!) your own tools for your comfort and to make sure we have enough for everybody. Parking at Gossage is extremely limited - please walk or use alternative transportation if possible, and reserve the garden parking spaces for folks carting extra tools and supplies or requiring accommodation.
