Rotating Trophies
A reminder - if you received a rotating trophy last year at fair, please bring it to the OSU Extension Service by July 1.

County Fair Admission
4-H members will pay $5 for their bracelets.  Leader bracelets are $15 for the week.  Please remember you need them from Wednesday, July 17 on to enter the fairgrounds.  If you do not have a bracelet the fairground gates will require the regular entry fee to enter.
We will have the 4-H family adult and children passes again this year.  This pass will be good for all fair days, Wednesday through Sunday, for parents and their non 4-H youth (children under 6 do not need a pass).  Adults are $25 each and youth (7-17 years of age) are $15 each.  Parking passes will be $20.
Bracelets will be available for pick up starting Monday, July 15 from the 4-H office at the fairgrounds.

Fairgrounds Clean-up Day
The Columbia County 4-H Youth Development Program will come together and show our appreciation during a Fairgrounds Clean-Up Day this Saturday, May 4.  This facility is available for 4-H activities during the year, and our contribution is that we provide people-power for a spring clean-up.  We will start at 8:30 am.  Hope to see you there!

Auction Committee Meeting
Please see the Auction Committee Rules 2019.  Market Swine, Market Lamb, Market Goat, Market Turkey, and Market Rabbit weigh-ins (tagging day) will be held on May 18 from 8am until 10am and May 19 from 8am until 10am at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in the Sheep Barn.  This is the same weekend as Youth Fair Horse.  Please note the time of the Auction on Saturday, July 20 has been moved to 2 pM.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30pm at the OSU Extension Service large conference room.

Livestock Weigh Days Set
This will allow all livestock project members an opportunity to evaluate their animal’s weight on a regular basis during the feeding period and should reduce the number of animals that arrive at Fair that do not make weight. It will also help teach your animal to load, unload and become accustom to hauling.
These dates are optional and members can come and go, as they need to:  June 11 and July 2  from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.  Both days will be at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on the scales in the sheep barn.
If no one shows or special arrangements have not been made, we will leave at 7 pm.

Youth Fair - Horse
Horse Youth Fair will be held May 17 - 19, 2019 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds.  This is an opportunity for you to practice with your horse in preparation for County Fair.  Registration is due by Friday, May 10.  Remember everything you learn at Youth Fair will help you in July at County Fair!

OSU Summer Conference
June 26 - 29, 2019
Each summer, Oregon State University hosts the State 4-H Summer Conference for youth completing grades 7-12.  Conference participants come from all parts of Oregon.  Students attend a wide range of exciting classes taught by OSU faculty and volunteers.  Classes are designed to be informative, interesting, and inspiring.  They cover a wide variety of subjects from technology and business to foods and dance.  While there, youth have an opportunity to explore OSU, learn independence in a safe setting, examine career possibilities, make friends, learn new skills, and have fun.  Join us for an experience you will never forget!
Our very own 4-H Mural Club (painted the beautiful downtown St. Helens mural and a mural at the fairground on the Floral building) will be teaching a workshop on murals at the conference!
Registration is online starting Wednesday, May 15.  You will need to email Kara at kara.orr@oregonstate.edu to get the registration password and instructions.  The registration cost for the conference this year is $200 and the first 10 members who register online will receive a scholarship of $100!  An additional scholarship opportunity is the Bertha Fluher Scholarship.   The deadline for this scholarship is May 15.
