May 19: Nations Next Door

Every major city in North America is now home to nations from around the world; furthermore, more than half of international migrants to the U.S. are landing in suburbs of metropolitan areas. Cross-cultural ministry is the new normal for ministry in North America.  And our response as disciples of Jesus is to love our neighbors from around the world, as we love ourselves.

Global City Mission is asking you to join us the week of May 19th to pray for the Nations Next Door. If your family, small group, or church is participating, go to our page here and register to let us know you are praying with us for the Nations Next Door.

DFW: Emerging Global City

It wasn't long ago that most of us wouldn't have thought of Dallas-Ft. Worth as a place representing global diversity.  However, Dallas-Ft. Worth is a rapidly growing urban metropolis as many of its newest residents arrive from around world. Whether one's newest neighbors speak Twi, Spanish, Korean, Hindi, Urdu, or so many other possibilities, the ends of the earth have moved to the Metroplex.

Global City Mission is in the process of building a team to reach out to the Nations Next Door living & working in DFW. If you are interested in learning more about this mission initiative, we want to hear from you.
Evangelism & Your Church
Recently, while I was leading a training at a church in Houston, a woman  sitting near the front of the room expressed at the beginning of the session that she really struggled with the thought of sharing her faith with others. Despite her doubt, half way through the training she spoke up, and she said that with everything that was being shared, she now believed that she could do it. She could now see herself starting spiritual conversations with others.  It's not the first time for us to hear similar testimonies, but it was a great moment.

If you'd like to partner with Global City Mission to help repeat this kind of story in your church, we would be thrilled to hear from you.

One of the ministries of Global City Mission is to take what we're learning as missionaries and to provide training opportunities to equip established churches to reach their communities. There are a lot of conferences, books, and curriculum out there, and much of it is helpful.  But one of the most important things we can do is to intentionally equip disciples of Jesus to lovingly & boldly share good news.
