Want to make a difference in our community?

TECT is making a special distribution of $21M and is currently seeking feedback from consumers on three potential distribution options.

To provide feedback on the special distribution, click here.
The options include the opportunity to top up the Iconic Projects and Catalyst for Change funds. These funds target projects that provide inter-generational benefit and create significant positive changes in our community. Some examples of projects funded include the TECT All Terrain Park, Baywave and most recently the new tertiary campus.

The options also include providing multi-year funding towards four targeted areas that keep our community safe, healthy and thriving.

The transformational grant initiatives are:
  • Emergency services
  • First 1000 days of life
  • Safe and healthy homes
  • Environmental sustainability
These initiatives were identified after feedback from community groups showed there was significant need in these areas. However, the groups that support these areas rely significantly on community funding to keep running.

Eligible consumers* now have three options available to receive their TECT rebate. You can make your selection via the Trustpower website. Consumers without computer access can call Trustpower on 0800 87 87 87. The options are:
  • Rebate paid direct into bank account:
The rebate will be paid directly into your nominated bank account.

  • Rebate credited to Trustpower power account:
The rebate will be credited to your Trustpower power account. This will be the default payment option if you do not make any choice on the Trustpower website.

  • Rebate gifted to the Acorn Foundation Vital Impact Fund:
You can choose to have your rebate gifted to the
Acorn Foundation Vital Impact Fund.  Learn more below.

WHY GIFT YOUR REBATE TO ACORN FOUNDATION?

The Acorn Foundation has been working in the Western Bay of Plenty region since 2003, connecting generous people who care with causes that matter.  Donors contribute through endowments, Workplace Giving, Giving Circles, or community group funds like the Acorn Vital Impact Fund; they build charitable funds that will cater for the current and future needs of our region - forever.

A donation to the Acorn Vital Impact Fund is invested so that it continues to grow over time. Interest earned from this investment is distributed each year to community organisations that address the Western Bay’s greatest needs, so your donation keeps giving to your community, forever. You will be issued a donation receipt from Acorn Foundation and will be able to claim a 33.3% tax credit – so you can give back and get back!

Past community recipients of the Acorn Vital Impact Fund include Awhina House Women's Night Shelter, Graeme Dingle Foundation, Tauranga Women’s Refuge and Volunteering BOP.

With TECT funding of $40k awarded this month, Envirohub can keep working to make our region a better place to live—for us and our native birds!

Triathlon Tauranga

Triathlon Tauranga is the Western Bay's triathlon, duathlon and multisport club.

The club's Youth Squad aims to foster participation in the sport for youth aged 6 to 19, with training sessions that help young people develop to become strong, well-rounded athletes, going on to win races, national titles and even becoming international triathletes.

The club received $28K in TECT funding last year to go towards four summer triathlon events and the delivery of the youth programme.
