The Spring ESIP Lab Request for Proposals (RFP) has been released. Through the RFP, the ESIP Lab will provide seed funding for 6-8 month projects that lie in the realm of good ideas ready to be tried out. Read the full RFP to find out more.

ESIP in Australia: E2SIP & C3DIS
This week Erin Robinson, ESIP Executive Director, is visiting IMOS, ESIP's first Australian partner and then, along with several from the ESIP U.S. community, is participating in the C3DIS meeting where she and James Gallagher, OPeNDAP, are both keynotes. In addition, there is a colocated E2SIP meeting. E2SIP started a year ago and is the regional ESIP workshop for Australians. Since the first E2SIP meeting, several Australian organizations have joined IMOS in becoming ESIP members. We are hoping to identify US and Australian connections for collaboration areas. We look forward to continuing to grow this partnership

Data Citation Guidelines Version 2 Posted for Comment
ESIP's Citation Guidelines Cluster, a collaboration between members of the Data Stewardship Committee and the Software & Services Citation Cluster, has developed the Data Citation Guidelines Version 2. These guidelines are updated from Version 1 to include a refinement of core concepts and a mapping of concepts to more metadata dialects. This version also provides new guidance on dynamic data citation and contains a new section on resolving citations. Read and comment on the Data Citation Guidelines Version 2 here by 5/22.
Next 'Data to Action' Webinar: The 4th National Climate Assessment
In the third webinar in the ESIP 2019 Webinar Series ‘Data to Action: Increasing the Use and Value of Earth Science Data and Information,’ a panel of speakers will share how the 4th National Climate Assessment (NCA4) was developed, including what standards of transparency and traceability were used for data included in it, and how the NCA4 is being used now to engage with communities and inform decision-making.
Comment on draft white paper: TRUST Principles for Data Repositories
The authors of the TRUST (Transparency, Responsibility, User Community, Sustainability, and Technology) Principles White Paper for data repositories request your feedback. The TRUST Principles focus on improving capabilities for managing, curating, preserving, and disseminating data. The Principles were created by an interdisciplinary team and were just released at RDA P13 during the session of the Interest Group on RDA/WDS Certification of Digital Repositories. Gateways 2019 Call for Participation Extended
The 4th Gateways Annual Conference, which will be hosted Sept 23-25, 2019 in San Diego, CA, is an opportunity for gateway creators and enthusiasts to learn, share, connect, and shape the future of gateways. Gateways are user-friendly interfaces to scientific computing, data, and other domain-specific resources to support research and education. This year's conference is co-located with the eScience conference. It will feature hands-on tutorials, demos, keynotes, presentations, panels, posters, and more. Submissions of papers, demos, tutorials, and panels are now being accepted.m Abstracts are due by 5/6 and full submissions are due by 5/15. Learn more here.
NASA Frontier Development Lab 2019 Challenge Areas
The NASA Frontier Development Lab (FDL), hosted by the SETI Institute, is an interdisciplinary research accelerator that combines talented researchers in AI with domain specialist researchers at the PhD and Postdoc level. FDL is looking for talented researchers with interest and capacity in several challenge areas for a 2019 research sprint. Places are open for both Researchers and Mentors, who receive a stipend and accommodation at NASA Ames in Silicon Valley for eight weeks, 6/24/2019-8/16/2019. See the challenge areas and apply here.

FSCI is a week-long program of coursework, group activities, and hands-on training around the latest trends in scholarly communication to be held Aug. 5th-9th, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA. Submit to ApacheCon NA 2019 - Geospatial Track
ApacheConNA will be September 9-13, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Submit presentations by 5/13 here to the Geospatial Track, which will consider a range of geospatial implementations ranging from location as an attribute, to projects which perform spatial analytics including handling of coordinate reference systems (CRSs), geometries and arrays. Emphasis is invited on the use of open standards including the recently updated CRS Well Known Text, version 2 from the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). The geospatial track will foster discussions leading to reduced development effort through reuse and increased quality of geospatial information handling. Discussions about this track are invited on geospatial@apache.org.
