                       TDMS TOP 10 COUNTDOWN
After 16 seasons, TDMS will come to an end on Saturday, June 29th. For the last 10 weeks of the show, Drew will share his TOP 10 moments of hosting Canada’s most listened to spiritual talk show.

Moment # 9:THIS ONE TIME - ON TDMS… during a summer show, the AC wasn’t working properly and the studio was so hot that Tim and I ended up taking off our clothes. Well - sort of. Tim took off his pants and I took off my shirt. Hey - it’s radio!"

Todd FisherBrother of Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia from STAR WARS)
Son of Hollywood Legend Debbie Reynolds (Singin’ In The Rain) &Recording Artist Eddie Fisher, Author of MY GIRLS: A Lifetime with Carrie and Debbie

Born into Hollywood royalty, Todd Fisher is a veteran of the entertainment industry who has thrived under the media spotlight his entire life. His 2018 book My Girls: A Lifetime With Carrie and Debbie, gave a firsthand account of the years he spent as a companion to the pair of iconic women in his life. It also shed light on the personal sides of fame, addiction, and mental illness that followed the family for decades. Unlike his parents and sister, Todd is best known for his work behind the camera. He produced and co-starred in the 2017 HBO documentary Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. He has also served as a producer and director on dozens of prominent films and specials. He has also served as president and archivist for Hollywood Motion Picture Museum. In addition, he is a pilot, an ordained minister, a competitive golfer and an avid collector of classic film equipment. In December 2016, the world was shaken by the sudden deaths of Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds, two unspeakable losses that occurred in less than twenty-four hours. The stunned public turned for solace to Debbie’s only remaining child, Todd Fisher, who somehow retained his grace and composure under the glare of the media spotlight as he struggled with his own overwhelming grief. In his book, MY GIRLS, Todd shares his heart and his memories of Debbie and Carrie with deeply personal stories from his earliest years to those last unfathomable days. His book, part memoir, part homage, celebrates their legacies through a more intimate, poignant, and often hilarious portrait of these two remarkable women than has ever been revealed before.

This Week's LIVE Recording Artist:
Ryan St. Pierre

Ryan St. Pierre began his music career through a very opportunistic, atypical way. He was working in the trades and waiting tables in the evenings at a local restaurant. On weekends he was working as a fashion and print add model in Toronto, ON. Then one Wednesday evening, in the early summer of 2001 Ryan received a call from his modelling agency that would surely and definitely change his future in unimaginable ways. They asked If he was musical in any way? Ryan immediately admitted that he was a singer/songwriter and could play several instruments (with a preference to the guitar). His agency was excited in expressing that they had a really unique audition opportunity for him that weekend in the big city. Ryan went to the audition not knowing what to expect but confidently brought and delivered an original song for the unknown hosts to hear and assess. “There were so many people auditioning for this mysterious musical opportunity, I truly didn’t think that I would receive a call back”.

A few days later, the phone rang again. Ryan’s agency expressed (with great excitement) that the label executives at the audition loved his original music and were calling him back for a second audition. At this time, Ryan was informed of the opportunity that he was auditioning for. He learned that several celebrity actors and musicians (Joshua Morrow, Eddie Cibrian, Howie Dorough, and C.J. Huyer) were amalgamating their resources to form Canada’s newest and hottest “Boy Band”. Although this wasn’t the musical direction Ryan had in mind, he didn’t for a moment consider passing up such a lucrative opportunity. The second audition was a success, and Ryan was offered one of two lead spots to front the band. In the Fall of 2001 Ryan officially signed a recording and management deal with EMI/Sextant Records to lead the Newly created Boy Band group “Drop4”. The band went on to produce several high rotation spinning singles and music videos (streamed on YTV Hitlist across Canada). In 2003 after two years with the Band, Ryan made a difficult but important decision to leave “Drop4” to pursue a different musical direction on his own terms, utilizing his creative ideas and songs. In 2006, two songs that Ryan wrote were nominated for “Rock song of the year”, and “Inspirational song of the year”, at the 27th Annual Covenant Awards. After a nearly ten-year hiatus, Ryan is back on the music scene, debuting a new solo album “Back To You” and ready to make his mark once again.

Benjamin E. ZellerAuthor Of HEAVEN’S GATE: America's UFO Religion

In March 1997, thirty-nine people in Rancho Santa Fe, California, ritually terminated their lives. To outsiders, it was a mass suicide. To insiders, it was a graduation. This act was the culmination of over two decades of spiritual and social development for the members of Heaven's Gate, a religious group focused on transcending humanity and the Earth and seeking salvation in the literal heavens on board a UFO. In this fascinating overview, Benjamin Zeller not only explores the question of why the members of Heaven's Gate committed ritual suicides, but interrogates the origin and evolution of the religion, its appeal, and its practices. By tracking the development of the history, social structure, and worldview of Heaven's Gate, Zeller draws out the ways in which the movement was both a reflection and a microcosm of larger American culture. The group emerged out of engagement with Evangelical Christianity, the New Age movement, science fiction, and UFOs, and conspiracy theories, and it evolved in response to the religious quests of baby boomers, new religions of the counterculture, and the narcissistic pessimism of the 1990s. Thus, Heaven's Gate not only reflects the context of its environment but also reveals how those forces interacted in the form of a single religious body. In the only book-length study of Heaven's Gate, Zeller traces the roots of the movement, examines its beliefs and practices, and tells the captivating story of the people of Heaven's Gate.

TDMS Talback

Should people of faith smoke the ganja or do you think it contradicts the scriptures that talk about not being “under the influence?” How about edibles? Or should “Jesus People” only use the oil if it’s for “legit” medical needs? It’s not against the law in Canada now, so what other reason do religious people have to judge others who do the doobie?

I think he just put his guitar back in its case!”
