Rumi Forum Charlottesville is organizing Ramadan dinner programs from May 6 to June 3 to share the traditional break-fast meal with the Charlottesville/Albemarle community. Click here for more information and to register for Home or Community Iftar dinners.
Other Iftar dinners hosted by local faith groups are also available (e.g. the one hosted by Tabor Presbyterian Church in Crozet, Friday, May 10. See below.). Rumi Forum Charlottesville sponsors these dinners, while the host group provides the space. African American Fellowship of Virginia Preaching Camp XVI - (see flyer)

The purpose of the Preaching Camp is to instruct, inspire, and encourage church planters, ministers, and pastors in a small intimate setting to explore four methods of sermon preparation and delivery. Medicaid Expansion Enrollment Drive by the NAACP
The Albemarle-Charlottesville NAACP has taken on the task of optimizing enrollment in the recently expanded Virginia Medicaid Program. The NAACP looks forward to hearing from and working with faith communities on eliminating the racial and ethnic inequities that exist within our healthcare system that undermine communities of color, their life opportunities and their ability to contribute to the common good. Virginia has joined Rev. William Barber’s Poor People’s Campaign uniting tens of thousands of people across the country to challenge the evils of Systemic Racism, Poverty, the War Economy, Ecological Devastation and the nation’s Distorted Morality. The campaign is looking for someone in Charlottesville/Central Virginia to serve on the Coordinating Council for the Poor People’s Congress in Washington D.C., June 17-19. Responsibilities include attending bi-weekly Wed. night Zoom meetings, help plan and/or identify events in their community, represent the Poor People's Campaign at events. A Local Alternative to Predatory Lending
The "Coalition for Economic Opportunity" (CEO) is a local nonprofit that offers short-term, low-interest loans of up to $650 to help people in times of crisis, keeping them from having to use payday or auto title loans. Over $50,000 has been loaned out in the last few years, enabling people to pay for car repairs, medical bills, and other unexpected expenses without entering into a cycle of debt. With additional funds, more loans can be provided in our community. Please help us spread the word, as one tangible way to enact our faith commitments and deal a blow to exploitative economic practices.
