Senator Cory Booker will make Charlotte stop to talk gun laws

On Friday, the New Jersey senator and presidential hopeful will participate in a roundtable about current gun laws and the effects on communities across the country. Booker will visit Charlotte at a time when the city is experiencing record homicide rates. At its current pace, Charlotte would surpass its 1993 record of 129 homicides.

Alerts about armed subject leads to lockdown of N.C. A&T. The Greensboro HBCU ordered a lockdown early Friday afternoon after a staff member reported that a man threatened to shoot a female student. The campus was on lockdown for about two hours and was lifted after police arrested the suspect. The school's Police Chief Charles Wilson said no one was injured and shots were never fired.
